This is my first deal post here and I thought it was a good one.

The Staples.com web site has the Samsung 700IFT monitor (Staples item # IM1190090) priced at $286.49 but I called them and it came up as $262.99 take $40 off a $200 order with a coupon found elsewhere and BOOM the best 17" Samsung flat screen monitor for $222.99 shipped.

On a Side note, one can get the 753DF at Staples. Use the $40 off coupon, and it came out to about $203 for me. Then use the $30 mail in rebate and you've got one hell of a nice/cheap monitor.

Well, too late, already ordered it before I posted. It's the exact monitor I wanted at a good price... what more can a guy ask for?

I just thought I would say that this monitor is incredible. It has a great dot pitch and a wonderful 3 year warranty with Samsung. I liked it so much I bought a 19" of the same style!

Anybody able to tell me where to find the rebate? Or, ftm, what the difference between the 700ift and the 753DF is, other than top resolution (which doesn't matter to me- I can't read 16x12 on a 17" monitor anyway!)

Thanks!

The main differences between the 735DF and the 700IFT are the maximum resolution and refresh rates. The 700IFT can do 1280x1024 @ flicker-free 85Hz (which is what I'm looking for) and the 735df can only do like 1024x768 @ 70Hz flicker-free (not what I want.) My refresh rate on the 735df might be a little off, but you get the idea.

As a monitor shopper looking to upgrade my 14" half-dome screen that I have had for ~8 years, thanks for pointing out this deal.

To get the details right, the 753DF does 1024x768 @ 85 Hz. The 753DF is Samsung's cheapest 17" flat-screen, while the 700IFT is their previous top-of-the-line 17"er (replaced on that perch by the 700NF).

To 17" monitor owners out there, how use-able is 1280x1024 on a 17" screen anyway?

I am also considering a Samsung 955SL, to get 19" screen real estate with a small footprint. But, the $%^#@$ rebate on the 955SL ended 12/00 and now this 19" with slight screen curve is A LOT more than these 17" flat-screens.

Thoughts? I plan to hit the shops this weekend and see if I can find them to compare.

Just want to share my experience about my Samsung 900IFT.
I bought a 900IFT last year after struggling through decision among Viewsonics and NECs and even LOWER Samsung models. But the IFT worth every penny I spent!!!

The screen is clear and sharp, absolutely stunning!!!
Got both BNC and D-SUB Input which I can connect 2 computers to ONE monitor and switch to either one from the ON-Screen menu.

Warrantywise, Samsung got ON-SITE service for the 1st year on my 19" Monitor. ( Not too sure about 17&quot
And then the next 2 years, they got excellent exchange policy at local service centers if your monitor ever have a problem.

Plus I also got some rebate from them, but it was a bit of long wait.

So I say go for the IFT and forget the other CHEAPER models
However I have not seen the NEWER models yet

So, which one is better? KDS Avitron AV-7TF 17 Monitor for $160 + tax from Staples or Samsung 753DF $160 + tax (after rebate and PM). LMK, I would like to get one. Thanks.

I just got my 753DF, and it's awesome. Running at 1280X1024@60Hz. very very very sharp picture, makes my old 15" look like a tv. Great deal. Now I need one more for dualhead

lukfilm, i'd go with kds just because its a trinitron and i like them. you should compare the 700ift and the kds since those are both flat screens. the ift uses diamondtron i think?

I picked up this monitor because I currently have a mediocre OEM 17". I'm going to give that one to my poor brother with his blurry, nearly-dead 14"

Anyhow, I hope it is good as you guys say it is. I helped a friend choose a Samsung "P" 17" (don't remember exact model number) but it was a real pretty monitor for the price at the time. This one should be even better.

LukFilm, I bought a KDS Avitron AV-7TF from Onvia when my Sony Trinitron died. Pretty disappointing. I ended up sending it back and got the Samsung 700 IFT, which I still have and am happy with.

I have a 700IFT here at home, it is awesome. It is truly a flat monitor, and it's way better than the POS I have at work.

I just purchased this monitor based SOLELY on opinions I've read on this board that have ranted and raved about how awesome this monitor is. I needed one to replace my 6 year old Sony 15sf, which has been worth every penny of the $600 i paid for it back in the day.

I was kind of hesitant to order from staples again, because I've had some problems with them on past deals (imagine that).

MUCH to my surprise, I placed the order tuesday morning, and wednesday night I got home to a UPS note. Picked up the monitor this morning from my leasing office.

Ok, enough rambling. This monitor is EVERYTHING that people in here have talked it up to be. Absolutely beautiful picture, and unbelievably crisp. And for under $250? Sheesh!

Buy this thing. Maybe two.

You can get the Samsung 753DF for $219 at Outpost. With $30 rebate it comes out to $189. No tax no shipping. At Staples they charge tax.
