Samsung 710N or LG L1720B

I am debating between a two LCD monitors...

1. Samsung 710N
- 600:1 contrast, 12ms refresh time, 300 cd/m2 Brightness, Pixel Pitch 0.26 mm 1280x1024 Max, Analog Interface

OR

2. LG L1730
- contrast 550:1, 12ms refresh time, 250cd/m2 Brightness, Pixel Pitch 0.26 mm, Max 1280 x 1024, DVI connection

Which one is the better buy, something that has DVI or something with the better contrast and brightness?

I was thinking of getting the Samsung 710T because of the DVI connection but dont know whether its worth that extra money. I game, edit video, watch movies and do a lot of surfing the net and msn chat

the higher the contrast ratio the clearer the picture. A 15" should be at least 350 to 1, 17" should be 500 to 1. You should accept no less than 700:1 for a happy experience.

I purchased the LG Flatron L1710B. I can say Im impressed. Havent seen any ghosting yet.

I found Clearview today and although the text was pretty nice at 1280x1024, Clearview allowed me to customise it a little to make it perfect for me.

VGA Vs. DVI.... my L1710B I can use either so I use DVI. Havent tested VGA.

I didnt go for the Samsung monitor primarily because there were various websites which listed different specs for it and I didnt want to pay for something without knowing exactly what I was getting. VGA Vs. DVI wasnt a major issue but £60 GBP difference between the 710N and 710T wasnt worth it imo.

The L1710B was around £5 more expensive than the 710N here and although I have heard Samsung are one of the best in the LCD market at least, I cannot say I regret getting the LG LCD.
