Where did these things come from? With the Hydis, AU Optronics, and the panel on the 172x all out, I thought the 17" LCD category had been set. Now it seems that Samsung has a new 17" LCD aggressively priced towards the mainstream. Newegg has the 710V (analog version) listed at $419 right now. With a 12 ms response time and other shining on-paper numbers, the 710 series seems like a good buy and the 710T (digital version) seems like it might undercut the 172x.
So my question is... does anyone know anything specific about these new monitors? Has anyone seen them in action or compared them against other monitors? The numbers seem rather suspicious for the price that they're being advertised at, so I was hoping if anyone is willing to offer some testimonials. If the actual performance resembles its stated specifications, I might just forsake DVI capability on LCDs and go straight for the 710V with its attractive price.
