I use it and one word... its awesome. never had a problem... has survived couple of storms...no color change. Its been about a year since i got it for $210 (from Bestbuy, ) and it rocks.

Is this monitor decent for playing GAMES on like Diablo II?
My bargain basement Viewsonic claimed to be flat, but it's not. I'm hoping this Samsung will be able to handle the resolution of this game better?

EDIT: WHOA, The rebate form says it's 0.20 mm dot pitch!!? My Viewsonic is 0.27

The rebate form also says it cannot be reproduced. Hmmm, isn't that what we are doing by printing it off the NET?! LOL

Geoffkin,

That .20 is the Horizontal dot pitch, not the standard diagonal dot pitch that other companies use. It is basically just marketing hype, however, that .20 translates to something like .24 normal dot pitch, which is still exceptional!! I've heard that this monitor is very sharp with text.

If that KDS is the Avitron flat screen model, I've heard that it compares nicely to the Samsung, but some claim that it craps out after a short while, so there may be quality concerns with it. You can get the Avitron at Sam's Club for $199, but I think the Samsung is a much better deal...

On Onvia just go throught the menus for monitors, then CRT, then 17 in, if you can't find it by the search, and it is 0.24mm dot pitch

This isn't an average monitor. It's revolutionary and amazing!
It's the first shadowmask flatscreen monitor of it's kind. It's crisp and amazing colour.

Dumb question - I'm assuming that this Rebate is THE rebate to send in... well, according to this, I need a copy of my original store receipt. Here lies the problem, they didn't send me one!!! All I've got is a packing slip that came on the box (has no mention of price or anything on it). How does Staples issue receipts for things purchased online?

I wouldn't exeactly call this monitor revolutionary and amazing. But for that price it's great. I sell these monitors with systems I build because I think they are the best value for the money (and that's at $200). I would like to note that although the outside of the screen is completely flat, there is curvature on the inside, and it is noticable. That's why Samsung calls these Dynaflat as apposed to their higher priced NatrualFlat series. Also, I noticed above someone mentioned this monitor would be great if it supported higher resolutions and refresh rates. Samsung also makes what you are looking for, the 753DF has two brothers, models 755DF and 700IFT, that support higher resolutions, refresh rates. The bottom line is that if you're looking for a 17" monitor and don't want to spend the money for a Trinitron or Diamondtron display, this is the next best thing.
