MX100 is cheaper, uses MLC instead of TLC and has other features like hardware encryption support and capacitors in case of power outage so any IO can be completed. Prevents drive corruption.

The Samsung drive is now $130 on Amazon. I've used both drives. Personally I would go with the Samsung. Especially if you are planning on copying your old drive to the new SSD the software Samsung supplies is much easier to use. At work we have upgraded all of our computers with Samsung SSD's. It really is impressive how you can take an older machine with a processor such as an E8400 and breathe new life into it.

I would go with Samsung simply because I already have a Samsung SSD and the same utilities apply.

I just ordered the Crucial MX for about $99 shipped. I current;y have 2 Samsung 830s, and a Crucial M4. They've all worked great, but the price of the MX100 can't be beat.

does this mean the Samsung 840 EVO is more susceptible to drive corruption in teh event of a power outage?

I'm going with the Crucial SSD (1 TB) for my Lenovo u430 Touch. It's much more inexpensive and I've just installed some Crucial RAM (8 GB) in the new lappy and all is well.

I just accidentally unplugged my computers power when it was running yesterday night. The 840 Evo survive with no error or data lost.
