Samsung 900NF?

I want to upgrade my monitor.I think about the samsung 900NF at onvia.
but how is this monitor?compare to trinitron
what is the natural flat tube?pure or not?
it is said the CRT come from Mitsubishi, is it a Diamondtron?

Many users - including myself - have found that the Samsung 900NF exibits an annoying bowing problem on the upper left of the screen that can not be resolved via the on-screen display. You may or may not notice the bowing problem, but I have seen it on all three 900NF's that I have owned.

Overall, it's an excellent monitor for the money. Very vivid colors and crisp text.

Yes it's a DiamondTron. I'm very pleased with mine. It still is a trintron monitor. You must mean vs. a Sony trinitron monitor?

Bowing problem? Could you explain this? I hear some about but I'm not really sure what to look for. I don't notice anything wrong but I don't really know what to look for.

tiejiba: You dont really notice the problem except if you look very carefully and closely. Second, many of the monitors using the same tube(FD Trinitron, DiamondTron Natural Flat), all suffer from the same problems. So it's not like Samsung delibrately caused this. After all the 900NF has the highest performance/price ratio of all 19" monitors.

I've just borrowed a KDS-195TF from my friend.I think it looks good.
When this compare to Samsung 900NF, which is better?
TF uses FD,and NF uses Diamondtron, almost the same price.but TF has the two dark line across the screen.

The two dark lines goes on every AG monitors, so dont worry about it. Well, if you're satisfied with the AV-195TF, then get it. I wouldn't bother to look at the 900NF if you like the KDS.

I borrow that KDS from my friend.It looks good does not mean I am totally satisfied with it.
I just want to have a good.So, to be honest,which one do you think is better???

The only advantage the 900NF really has is higher max resolution. I would say image quality is nearly identical.

I'd go for the 900NF since I already have the 700NF. My 700NF is great, but what stopped me from getting the 900NF was my budget.

900NF is an AG monitor, so you will see the darklines. But seriously, its something I forgot long time ago and Im sure it'll stop bothering you in a short time.

Those "dark lines" are caused by the shadows from the damper wires used in any kind of aperture grille (AG) monitor. 15, 17, and 19 inch models have two damper wires, and above 19 inches, there are usually three damper wires. Most people do not even notice them after a while, your eyes get used to them. They are most apparent with lighter backgrounds.

Also, Trinitron = Sony, DiamondTron = Mitsubishi, and SonicTron = Matsushita. These are the three major CRT producers for AG monitors.

Actually i think any new 19&quot; FD trinton based monitor will exhibit some geometry problem. My sony G400, which uses a different tube than the Samsung and Mitsubishi monitors, also has an annoying geometry problem in the top left corner.

Also the 900NF has BNC inputs in the back for the most optimal connection. The AV-195TF does not. Otherwise, I've used both and they're both great except I really like the BNC.

I ended up going 21' and decided to go with kds, I went to compusa and had them put a samsung and a kds up to eachother. Personally I thought the kds looks much much cleaner $ smoother.

AntMan: You must be comparing the KDS FD Trinitron monitor to a Samsung shadow mask monitor. Which is like comparing apples to oranges. Because there is no way a Samsung DiamondTron NF monitor look any worse than a KDS.

lugurbrious: The 900NF is better than the PF790, higher res, higher refresh rate. It's worth the price difference.
