Phooey. I was going to get one for my sister. I have one (with the slideout tray), and I am very pleased with it. I haven't noticed any blurring with mine. I also have no trouble running it at 1280x1024, no flickering at all. Even without the rebate, it's still a good deal.

I've got to say that I love this monitor also...though it does give off a hell of a lot of heat. I'm in a 120 sq. ft. room for the winter and the monitor is all I need

I run this monitor at its max resolution: 1600x1280, 32-bit, 85Mhz

Kick ass! I moved up to this resolution from my Shamrock 17" @ 1024x768

Finally I can work on a 1024x768 image in Photoshop without having to resize the picture.

Next: Dualhead card with an LCD....dream on

uh... isn't the max res like 1600x1200 at 60Hz? 88MHz is crazy But if you're running at that res at 88Hz, I think you're running it an an unsupported refresh rate... and you might burn out your tube

very true...

this monitor doesn't support 88mhz.
you can use powerstrip or other o/c'ing software to drive your monitor beyond it's specifications.
but that would also mean that you are not going to be able to use the monitor as long as it's specified for.

it's your monitor, do what you like.

if you ask me, going 88mhz is a bit too much.
i'm not a guru on this, but it'd be my guess that running at 75mhz will prologate the monitor's life as to 88mhz.
if your eye can't tell the diff between 75mhz and 88mhz? why stress your monitor for unobtainable benefit?

other than your bragging rights.

Woops, my bad. Checked the res and refresh rate and they are 1600x1200 @ 75Mhz. I'm running XP Pro w/o Powerstrip. I tried it at 85 and it worked but didn't notice any difference so brought it back down to 75. Good enough. Never had so much space before heheh

Hey - This deal is back on and it's a little better. The new price for the is 237.49, but the Rebate is $50 - so you can get the monitor for 187.49 shipped.

Mine is now about 6 months old and the picture has degraded somewhat. It's lost some brightness and focus (maybe bouncing in my car going to the occassional LAN party hasn't helped) to the point that it hurts my head to run it at higher than a measly 1152X864.

I just ordered an NEC 1850x 18" LCD that runs native 1280X1024. The Sammy will be relegated to dual head work, or worse, server duty.

I just got it yesterday from Dell and I think I'll be returning it
My rant about 995DF:

* This monitor is NOT flat.
* 0.20mm DP is in the center only, goes much higher on sides- hence image quality on sides is a lot worse.
* Geometry is not good, was not able to align borders perfectly like I have on my HP1110, HP1120, Sony GDM-F500 21" monitors- perfect OVER THE YEARS.
* It doesn't support 85Hz at 1280x1024 which is what I'd use on 19" monitor, so I had to set it to lower res.
* I set brightness to 0 on the monitor and it is still too bright.

What pisses me off is that Samsung thinks it's ok to write "Perfectly flat" and "0.20mm DP" on the box when it's obvious they are lying as soon as you take it out.

Yep, I agree with everything Future said above...

For a cheap monitor I suppose it is okay for normal use, but if you are looking for something FLAT, this monitor is not.
The flatter model is the Samsung 900NF which uses Aperture Grill.

The outer glass may be flat on the 955DF, but if you look closely, the tube is actually recessed in about 1/4 to 1/3 inch. They put an extra piece of glass on the outside to make it appear flater and then molded it to the inside tube. This causes the tube to be pushed back and this really bothers me.
