A full unboxing of the Samsung Galaxy S4 LTE-A with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor has appeared online, further solidifying that the company is almost ready to launch the device in Korea on SK Telecom's LTE-Advanced network.

The device, carrying the model number SHV-E330S, will be offered by the carrier in the coming weeks in at least two colors - Blue Arctic and Red Aurora.

Here are the two Galaxy S4 LTE-A units getting the hands-on treatment.

The Samsung Galaxy S4 will be one of the first smartphones to support the new LTE-Advanced standard, which promises data transmission speeds of more than double those of conventional 4G LTE. AnTuTu benchmarks of the Snapdragon 800-running beast have also appeared online, but we'll be awaiting results from the retail unit to be sure of its performance.
An official launch date for the latest Galaxy S4 variation isn't yet confirmed, nor is the pricing (although co-CEO J.K. Shin did mention that the LTE-A version will be more expensive than the regular Galaxy S4). Customers who had purchased the Snapdragon 600 have already expressed their dissatisfaction of Samsung's move to launch a more powerful version of the phone just two months after they've bought theirs.

I remember rumors that the S4 would launch with the S800, but the timing was too tight and Samsung didn't want to delay the S4 launch.

On one hand, sucks for the early S4 buyers, on the other hand, if Samsung starts updating their phones with the newest hardware as they're available, they'll always be top of the heap and mind instead of the mid-year leapfrogging manfs do to each other.

No one in the states is deploying lte advanced currently, by that time that happens we will be on the s5 or the s6

the issue is that anytime they experience lag, they blame specs. with an s600 its possible to create a lag free ui and experience. it's just that Android isn't lag free yet.

More powerful doesn't always necessarily translate to worse battery life. In the case of the wireless radio, if it's able to transmit faster, it can go to a low power state sooner, so even if it does have a higher peek power consumption, it can still be more energy efficient.

I think the lag is more to do with the TouchWiz than Android. Engadget just did a hands on with the Google Edition Galaxy S4 today and remarked it was smoother than the TouchWiz version. Which is no surprise at all.

I am not excited. There is no NEED for faster 4G, especially with most people's data-plan limits and prices. 4G its already lightning fast. And the phone is not yet said to ever launch in USA yet, so even less reason to care unless you live in Korea.

I'm really curious, are there any applications to have a faster GPU than what Snapdragon 600 has? I rarely play mobile games, but I have yet to see one pressured me to upgrade to a higher performance GPU.

I would think that mobile games would cater to the lowest common denominator to maximize their profit.

I don't see much UI lag at all on my Nexus 4 running CM.

I don't know how much data you have but I have 4G LTE and never exceed my monthly data allowance of 5GB.

People in the past have claimed 'you don't NEED that much memory/storage/clock speed, there is currently no use for it!', yet use expands to fill what technology can offer.

Yes, LTE is fast, but it can be faster. By the time LTE-A is implemented, LTE might be feeling a bit slow. Even if it isn't, there is sure to be some day where we look back and think "wow, how did we deal with download peak of 300Mb/s?".

Not only that, but people also don't change their behavior overnight, so if people do the same things over a faster connection, the connection gets freed up for the next person sooner.
