Samsung Android-based Phone for Sprint

I like that it has an actual keyboard as opposed to the HTC Hero, but will most Android apps work in landscape mode when typing?

I like that it has a nice large keyboard and the screen they said looks nice but I'd like to see a screen in person before I bite. I've never really liked Samsung phones but this looks good.

I've never had an Android app that didn't work in landscape. Don't forget that the original Android phone was a slider.

Considering the absurdly high price of the TP2, this phone has gone rather higher on my "possible upgrade" list. If the speakerphone is even remotely usable, I'll probably pick it up.

There has been some debate about TouchSense vs stock Android... personally, I think I prefer stock, just because the upgrades to the OS should hit the devices faster.

I've used a bunch of custom ROMs on the G1, including ones that used HTC's SenseUI. I always ended up switching off of it, but not because I didn't like it - because the G1 didn't have enough memory to handle it (presumably the new phones do). That said, SenseUI really is a lot nicer looking than stock.

I would love a full body slider as opposed to what the G1 had. Getting my right hand around that lip was a pain. I hope that increased processor speed is coupled with a bigger battery though. No matter what it does a cell phone needs to last a whole day. I sometimes wish HTC had made a special series of batteries just for their Android phones. They should be a lot bigger.

G1 battery is 1150 mAh, Touch Pro 2 is 1500 & the battery isn't really that much heavier (and the phones have nearly identical physical sizes). So HTC can do it, maybe it just makes for a more expensive battery and they don't want to? I dunno.

i have the everything messaging plan with free data for my wife and myself. I have 5 lines total. My parents, who are on my plan, they are old and on fixed income so I pay for it, do not use the data...they rarely use any minutes as most of my family is on sprint and that is who they talk to. I have my son, 12 years old, who does not need data either. These all or nothing plans are crazy, should be able to add a la carte with very reasonable prices that are straight forward. I do get a corporate discount for 20% as well. But after fees and TN taxes, good lord, it is almost a wash...LOL.

My wife likes the social networking stuff. she just got done with her HS reunion, 30th, and is enjoying facebook a great deal, and uses text and email. I use email, texting and data for weather, maps etc.

I appreciate that folks with SERO wanna keep it. Thats fine but they wont be able to use any new phones with it. They wanna new phone they are going to have to get on a Simply Everything plan.

Looks like a nice phone, wish it was available on more carriers than Sprint though.

Anybody got this phone yet? It looks good and runs stock Android which is good. I don't need a stupid skin. Only thing that sucks is that Samsung hasn't announced if they're going to update the OS version on this thing. If they do then I think it's great.
