Is that 5% CPU usage spike just a random blip or is it consistent?

The 5% is a spike. It is generally between 1% and 2%, which is slightly higher than the 950 Pro.

The reason for this may be because the SM961 uses the standard Windows 10 NVMe driver while the 950 Pro uses the optimized Samsung NVMe driver.

Well, it does put more data through, so I'd expect an increase. 5% seemed a bit high though.

Thanks. I was able to get the Samsung driver working (not the way used in the video however). He was using the older Samsung driver from HP. The one on Samsung's site is newer and only installs if you have a 950 Pro. But since I have a 950 Pro, I was able to get both drives using the same driver.

It made no difference in performance. But it did get my CPU % down to 0.

This is not an apples for apples comparison, the 950 is the 256G model vs the 961 being 512G a fairer comparison would be the 950 pro 512G as its read would be up in 2650MB range.

Still the 961 looks impressive.
