I think if samsung made a gs3 mini it should be a more powerfull cell

my wish list would be

4.3 super amoled plus display
s4 pro clocked at 1.6ghz
2100 mah battery
same key setup as the gs3

and not waste any space around the corners,I took my gs3 apart and amzed how much room they got in there, they could of easily made the gs3 foot print smaller and kept the same size 4.8 screen

Samsung loves Exynos so any chance they get at not releasing one with another SoC is a win in their bucket. I don't know about being more powerful especially with a smaller battery.

why is samsung taking so long to get a quad a15 chip out yet,Id rather have that but at least next gen arch.

it is a wish list and I know it will never happen but a mini gs3 with a quad a15 would be so sick, heck they shoul make a verison of it and call it the mini nexus and seperate it from the galaxy s3 brand and just go vanilla jellybean on it.

Ill admit there are times I think the gs3 is too big but they could of made it a little smaller and still used the same screen.

4.8 in a a smaller frame would of been killer

You guys complain as if Samsund is the only Android manufacturer. Sony and others make powerful phones with 4.3" screens. The upcoming Xperia V is a superphone that has better features than its larger brother.

I would argue that Moto has the best 4.3 inch screen right now cuz its found in a tight little package WITH a fat battery. They sacrificed nothing.

Well, some might argue the pentile sucks, but on a small high res screen you dont notice it.

Some people are pretty (overly) sesitive about the pentile screen. Maybe I'm just crazy but I didn't even mind the lower res pentile on the Atrix, and I came from an iphone 4 at the time.

The problem is also at the carrier level. Some other phones may be great but I have a pretty good deal with Verizon and I definitely can't complain about the coverage. I've heard ATT and T-Mobile are not very good here and can speak from first hand experience that Sprint sucks. (This is a general statement, haven't looked it up so the Xperia V could be coming to VZW.)

How is the Xperia V better than the T in terms of features? Maybe build having dustproof but other than that the T has a better front camera, video light, and more onboard storage.

With the exceptions of storage and screen size, the V is better or tied to the T in every category. It has some advanced features that the T simply does not have.

Here is the comparison

And here are the reasons

Who honestly believes Samsung will have an event for an ARM11 device? Doubtful it's probably a typo.

The mini S III is confirmed.

http://news.cnet.com/8301-1035_3-57529361-94/samsung-exec-confirms-galaxy-s3-mini-is-on-the-way/

The details are to be unveiled tomorrow, but it's looking like it's going to be non-Nexus with Samsung bloatware, and 800x480.

http://mobilegeeks.de/samsung-galaxy-s3-mini-alle-spezifikationen-erstes-foto/

If that's the case, I'm not interested.

BTW, the STE U8420 is supposedly dual-core ARM 9.
What the hell do they mean by it wouldn't be an "entry level" device?
Here is the complete specifications:

Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini GT-I8190 Display: 4.0 inch Super AMOLED display with 800 × 480 pixels, 16.67 million colors, capacitive touchscreen, multi-touch CPU: STE U8420 dual-core 1.0 gigahertz wireless standards: HSPA 14.4/5.76 900/1900/2100, EDGE / GPRS 850/900/1800/1900 Camera: 5 megapixel with auto focus and LED Flash, Resolution 2592 x 1944 pixels / VGA front RAM: 1 GB flash memory: 16 GB, MicroSD card slot ( . max 32 GB) Operating System: Google Android 4.1 "Jelly Bean" Connections: MicroUSB port, 3.5mm Kopfhörer-/Headset-Anschluss Wireless: Bluetooth 4.0, WiFi a / b / g / n 2.4/5GHz, DLNA, NFC (UICC , optional) Battery: 1500 mAh Dimensions: 121.55 x 62.95 x 9.85 mm Housing Material: Plastic

Crap 800x480 is entry level, weak CPU is entry level.
It may not be crap entry level like what HTC is trying to pull by releasing a 2 year old phone as the "Desire X", but it's still borderline crap.
399 Euros for this? Good lord...Samsung sure does know how to rake in the profits.

That's not entry level. That's mid-level, considering it has a 4" screen and dual-core CPU.

BTW, I'd be fine with a dual-core 1.x GHz CPU if Jelly Bean ran smoothly on it and video played back fine. Similarly, I'd love to have a 4" screen, as I think 4.0 - 4.3" is the sweet spot. The resolution is lower than I'd prefer though.

As for the battery, the iPhone 4 only has a 1420 mAh battery, whereas the iPhone 4S has a 1432 mAh battery.

With a decent 28/32 nm chipset, a smaller screen, and a smooth OS like Jelly Bean, you don't necessarily need to brute force the design with quad cores and ginormous batteries.

what a joke, this is worse specs of the gs2.

they should of just made it the same exact specs of the gs3 and have it be a real gs3 mini.

Well thank goodness. The rest of the SoC may still be rubbish, but at least the CPU is going to be far better than what we initially feared.

The Galaxy S II is now considered mid level.
I'm willing to assume that this phone won't perform anywhere near it.

I don't base entry/mid/high-end level ratings on screen size.
If we did then the iPhone 4S would be entry level.

Not just that -- it has the Mali 400. So it's basically the SG2: last year's flagship.
It does?
If so, then I was wrong then...This phone would be considered mid-level based on your statement.

Are we talking about the RAZR M?

If so, I'd agree, except that the screen sucks. I have one and compared to an iPhone 5, it's just tragic. I had to look it up after I got it to see if it was pentile and I wasn't surprised when I found out.

Maybe if it was 1280x720 it would be a lot more bearable. Awesome phone, terrible screen.

So there's always a group that chastises Apple when it doesn't release a cheaper lower end model and uses old phones, but at the same time that strategy isn't too bad overall.

Look what happened with the Canon 6D vs 5D MkII. I would pick a 5D2 over the new 6D lower end model. And HTC did it with the Desire X and now Samsung's doing it with this crap phone.

They should've pushed the GS2 for a lower price. That phone would be a great mid/upper end phone.

BTW 800x480 isn't the worst thing in the world. The GS2 certainly doesn't look that nice against the GS3, but it's not a bad screen. And if you give it to me at 4" without pentile, I think it'd look pretty sharp.

This phone looks like a piece of crap.

Pentile screen with all its issues, AMOLED with all its issues. Crappy SOC, low amount of ram (for an android device).

Is there anything positive about this announcement?

What would be decent is if they pushed harder to release JB to their devices in a quicker time frame, including updating the GS2. Then they could make a big hoopla about lowering the GS2 price and have it ship with JB at that point. Then you also make all the other current GS2 owners happy. You also don't even have to spend extra hardware development money, it's all the same software development just accelerated. And if rumors (with some proof) are to be believed, the 4.1 update is planned in November so they wouldn't have had to work THAT much harder on it. It might still happen... just later and alongside another "new" device
