I personally have never based my buying decisions on benchmarks for mobile devices. I simply try them out in the real world and then decide.

Well then they should not have advertised 533 MHz and kept it at 400 MHz at all times. It is an unbelievably dumb and unethical move for a company the size of Samsung. This discredits all GPU benchmark numbers reviewers conducted and will leave sour tastes to them.

For users, it reminds once again why synthetic benchmark numbers should be viewed with caution.

I'm not defending them its simple logic,Samsung has many versions of the gs4 and even the exynos has different clocked versions.

This could also be pre release testing firmware as there was also different clocked phones out and about in bench.

Samsung is not even using the same GPU in the exynos anymore and if they really clocked it as fast as it can run it would of made all the other variants look bad.

Now if the GPU was not rendering all the frames and was cheating it would be a big issue but this was clearly done to make all the gs4s run about the same speeds

Samsung shouldn't even have launched this processor in the S4 - and the release of the S800 equipped S4 in those markets speaks to that.

So having to do stuff like this to make it look good compared to the S600 - totally shady.

I'm pretty sure that's almost a perfect definition of shady, not to mention potentially false advertising. If the device is prohibited from reaching those states under normal operation, it shouldn't be advertised as having those states.

Wayyyyy shadier. Its a lot easier to get away with rampant corruption and bribing officials when you have the entire South Korean government in your back pocket. I don't see Tim Cook being pardoned by Obama anytime soon for their price fixing scandal.
