Is this thing good? That's a heck of a discount....makes me wonder if it is a problematic device.

edit: mixed reviews at the egg. I would not expect much from this thing at that price. But I would love to be wrong.

This particular printer goes on sale a lot. It's generally well accepted as an adequate color laser. For the price, it's pretty much in throw-away category if you dislike/have problems with it.

Black toner is about $45, the three color cartridges will run you $51 x 3. All told, that is about $200 to replace toner on a $70 printer. If you are going to buy one, it might be smart to buy two or three, just to save money on refills.

Oh, I am all in favor of toner over ink. It just seems to make far more sense to buy three printers and throw two away, keeping only the toner from the discards, than it does to plan on buying replacement toner later on.

Agreed, Buy 2 or 3. The toner included with the purchase (black) yields 1000 pages, a new toner (50) cover 1500 pages. I can only imagine what quantity the color cartridges cover. Aside from that, if you dont print often, no worries about the cartridges drying out! This is a deal!

This will be our first color laser. Cheap test drive price. Toner beats ink price per page.
Thanks for the post

I've had this printer for about a year, and can give it a thumbs up. It's prints fast, and I'm still on the original toner cartridges. I haven't used the wireless aspect of it, but it's worked fine as a network printer using the LAN connection. No complaints at all really - its been a great printer for the year I've owned it.

Hell - I bought another one - this is cheaper than getting new toner cartridges, and I also get some spare parts.

Not sure I agree with ^^^

With ink jets a 'new printer' does not come with full cartridges. They are like 10% full, IIRC. I used to work retail many, many, many years ago and when we sold printers we could actually see based on the reported size and how many sheets a printer would print before needing a new one. This was also confirmed with the HP and Epson rep.

With Lasers, I have no experience with this. However, I have a really hard time believing that these are 'full' (or even near full) toner catridges. It wouldn't even make sense because 4x1 black = $40 and 3x40 = $120 for a total of $160+? I highly doubt it. Just sayin-

Note that newegg also has a $70 canon black and white all-in-one and a $90 samsung color all-in-one. Just search on the black Friday listing. I ordered the canon. I need the scanning capability.

Thank you OP. Picked one up to replace my aging Laserjet 1100. It will be nice to have it on the network.

My toners are more than halfway full after a year, and I've probably printed 300 pages, a mixture of color and B/W. So, as a guess I would say you get maybe 750 pages from the original toners (unless they've changed since last year). The best thing is I don't have to worry about nozzles drying out. I'm in Denver, and inkjets dry out way before I can use all he ink.

I checked my toners out again from my original CLP-325W, and I think these come with normal-sized toner carts. I passed the deal onto a colleague of mine who bought one as well - he also added another year of warranty for $9.99....

If you were to buy more than one, from a value standpoint, you could RECYCLE the old or any of your non working printers for credit towards a new printer.
Staples and Office Depot will give a $50 credit for ANY printer during certain promos. (They select which models qualify).
Usually has to be toward a new printer with a regular retail of $199 or more.
Not too long ago Staples had a Cannon MX870 INK for $129.99.
Less a staples $25 off $75 coupon, less $50 for the non working printer came to about $55.
Buying this printer for just the ink doesn't sound too crazy, as long as you can get some miles out of the existing toners. Cool, thanks OP.

If you bought 2+, open up the second box now and load the paper tray with envelopes. If this model is similar to the older 315 model, it doesn't have an envelope feed. If you have two trays pre-loaded with regular paper and envelopes, you can just switch them out when you need to print envelopes instead of having to hassle with changing out the paper every time.

I asked Samsung for a source for a second paper tray for this purpose and it came out to something like $35-40 when I added shipping.

Excellent - thanks for the suggestion. I'll check into it when I get them.
