Samsung Directv receiver (HDTV)

This one seems TOO CHEAP. I can't find a review. Anyone know why almost all of the HDTV receivers are in the 550-750 range and this one is 150?

no it wont.... you need the Samsung TS-160 for HDTV Directv. The 165 only does OTA HDTV

You're right - it's a T160. My local Fry's has a demo of this model.
It automatically decodes both DirecTV and over the air.
The box is a bit warm, but the pix is great!!!

I'd recommend the Hughes E86 great HDTV picture w/o all the fancy that Sony and Samsung have .. got one from BB recently no box, no manual, no RF antenna, no cables. Just the IRD+RF Remote for $299.00 YMMV

Ask for the demo's and or returns, which come with full warranty plus you can get extended from BB if you choose to.

definitely keep an eye open for open box and floor model HDTV receivers

I got a RCA DTC100 HDTV Directv receiver with remote for only $50 a few months ago at Best Buy. I was shocked at the price. It even came with an HU card.

I'd recommend the Hughes E86 great HDTV

The E86's OTA tuners have problems locking onto OTA signals (even sometimes seemingly strong signals). Definately less stable than the Samsung TS160. PQ is pretty much the same. But the Samsung deals better on weak or multi-pathed signals.

I agree, the E86 is one FUSSY tuner for OTA signals.

I had a 160 for sale in the sales section, I have a SIRT165 still there for 499$, in the box with the plastic still on it. I two as gifts so I have 2 and I can't return anything.

THe 165 does not do DirectTV but does do Firewire out for HDTV recording and DVI out, as well as component and all the rest stuff.
