Tell me about it, massive buyers remorse right now. Maybe I should have cheaped out. The battery still drains when plugged into a 2.5w USB port when streaming Pandora via WiFi and it gets warm.

Dude take it back. Don't settle for stuff that doesn't suit your needs. That is an EXPENSIVE piece of kit.

It's t-mobile, and it says 25% or around 458mah was burned by tapatalk...I've hardly been on the whole day.

To be fair, that does sound like an app-issue .. problary tapatalk racing through ads or something. Uninstall tapatalk and see whats what? I always use the regular web interface for my different forum needs anyway.

However, I got the S5 and will problary never buy a samsung phone again.

Regular S7? I've seen some complaints about the S820 versions having much higher Android system usage vs. the Exynos versions, though this seems more like a rogue app which can happen to any phone. Uninstall and reinstall app?

Ouch, even w/ water-cooling it still throttles like mad.
Did we jump from heat pipes to liquid cooling to now water-cooling?

Also a heatpipe is just there to dissipate from the SoC to the phone's body. The phone body dissipation hasn't changed and that is still the limit to long-term performance at high power.

Throttling starts agressively around 15th iteration, and till 12th that's less than 10%. I say much better compared to 7420. Also on glass phones, heat is trapped more compared to metal chassis.

Andrei a deep-dive article planned for 820 and 8890?

Don't want to make this a Samsung thread but for those interested:
2nd day, the battery burn is way less, now the phone actually charges via 2.5w USB and runs a lot cooler while streaming Pandora and youtube. Yesterday mightve been an anomaly or user error.

Actually it's a lot better than I expected. The first 16 runs actually are better than the 6S Plus which I honestly didn't think anyone would ever be able to say.

I would have been interested to see additional runs, say out to 30 to see if it stabilized in the upper 20s which would still be pretty impressive in my book. Certainly doesn't seem like regular to heavy use should see any real throttling as a benchmark is a bit of an artificial stress test.

Thats right. However the phone's body dissipation is typically only used by a fraction of its potential if you do not distribute the heat by other measures like heat pipes/liquid cooling.
In general if the phone's body has a temperature hot-spot the dissipation potential is only partially used.

Most won't have Exynos variants for another week.

Andrei, could you do a SPEC IPC comparison on S820 too? This core is much important in todays computing too.

Do with the 8890 too, please!

Mongoose SC score is impressive, we just need power data to know if is a great core or not.

Power data by a deep dive, like AT did on Kirin950 in january.

http://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2016/03/samsung-galaxy-s7-and-s7-edge-review-the-galaxy-s6-2-0/

I dont understand why Samsung put in SD820 in U.S version. Exynos 8890 matches SD820 in most benchmarks and sometimes beats it. international version has better battery life. it even has integrated modem.
considering the rumor that a10 is not fabbed by samsung, are they using qcomm to showcase their foundry capability?

My guesses:

1. Something related to Qualcomm security for Samsung Pay? Both US and China are supposed to have Qualcomm models. Then again Korea have Exynos!
2. Radios for CDMA, where Qualcomm clearly have upper hand. Probably China also have some of those bands where Qualcomm radios work better.
