Well AMD support seems to be not there for freesync. I would wait on the technology for anyone thinking of going that way.

Your implying AMD needs to bold the hands of monitor manufacturers from design to production to implement a industry standard? Or more like they should spend millions on R&D so the monitor makers can make all the profit? AMD support is the gpu and drivers I thought....Hmmm

They are the ones who develop the technology. They are still no xfire drivers. And one monitor that's was suppose to be good has and issue with crossfire and AMD and Benq are yet to address it.

So yeah, I say save your money or go gsync.

This is from a guy with a freesync monitor and AMD card.

Without the added cost of Gsync, Freesync is more of a bonus than the main selling point. You can easily buy and enjoy the monitor without Freesync being the main deciding factor.

Does not detract from my comment. And this thread is about freesync monitors not any monitors.

Maybe it's more like they are the ones that seeded the technology. After all it's free and part of a industry standard. It's up to the manufacturer to make sure it's implemented correctly.

Crossfire support...AMD's lagging it looks like so I can understand your frustration.

It's one of the early adoption ginnie pig situations it looks like to me.

More like this since gysnc had SLI problems in the beginning too.

Hopefully these will be glossy or semi glossy rather than the terrible matte AG film like the UD790.

There really is no good excuse for why it has taken so long for them to get Crossfire working though. This should be a priority for them. They were already behind the Gsync release.

I want to stay with AMD because I would rather not support Nvidia's closed source practices and pay the NV premium for a monitor and graphics card etc. However if at the end of my graphics life cycle I find that their support is lacking due to fault of their own (IE not because a developer such as Ubi refuses to work with them, but because they are not putting enough resources into driver development) I will switch back to green team.

Looking at the more recent reviews it seems like frame pacing with multigpu is trading blows between the teams now, which was originally one of my reasons for switching (well that and getting 4 games and two cards for $500.)

If gamers like me go green team that is a bad sign because most people could really not care about business practices in their decision. I would be getting a Gsync monitor as well which would essentially lock me in as an NV customer.

I figure I have until between Christmas and Q2 2015 before I upgrade again

Except it's a TN panel.... :/

I think he showed 2 28s - one with a TN, a 590 successor, and the other the 28" 850 with a PLS panel. I am pretty happy that we are starting to see a trickle of 4K FreeSync monitors as GSync completely lagged behind in that regard for the first 1.5 years. Hopefully over the next 1.5-2 years this trend grows rapidly.

It would be great for the market to have all these options for FreeSync/GSync monitors:

3440x1440 75Hz 34"
4K 60Hz 28-40"
2560x1440 144Hz

Then, the holly grail of 4K + 120Hz + A-Sync.

According to Samsungs own homepage the u28e850 is TN, while the 24" and 32" is PLS.

Ok, thanks for correcting me then! I am presonally interested in 32" or greater when the time comes to go 4K. Although I am starting to think 144Hz 2560x1440 may be a good alternative to 60Hz 4K. We'll have to reevaluate the market in a couple years.
