Also, if you don't understand what I wrote, re-read it. Samsung has had oled screens for several years now. The note is not the first.

I don't understand this part-
Why Samsung is going with bigger greens (in their old OLEDs) or extra blues (in the latest Note II oled screen), I don't fucking know. What I do know is that the screen looks nauseating.

Because it is simply not true, from my point of view. I don't understand how you can make false statements without backing them up, and expect to be taken seriously. Do you have any reputable review sites that show an actual blue tint?

I don't understand how Dari can tell me my phone has a blue tint when only one of us has one.

Forget blue tint. When it comes to the Note 2, all I see is Envy-Green oozing out from behind the iOS walled garden.

I own a Note 2, and I do have to agree that there is a definite blue tint to the screen. It's a function of the screen itself. Straight on and it's okay. But look at the screen slightly off angle and the whole thing turns a blue'ish haze. Even when the screen is off and you can see reflections on it they have a blue color shift to them.

It's not a make or break thing, but it's definitely there.

The oled screens on the original SGSs were weird. They had red, green, and blue for every pixel but the green was much bigger than the other two colors. Fucking weird.

And yes I agree with the comments on the Galaxy Nexus and some other Galaxy phones being "green". That's the only way I can describe them too. I'm not trying to troll or feed any trolls. Simply stating my own observation. People are very different and have very different levels of sensitivity to things. There are people who can't watch DLP because of the "Rainbow" effect. There are people who can't see certain ranges of colors. There are some people who can't taste some flavors. Others who over taste. And so on.

I can notice the color tints on the Samsung phones. I'd never want a Galaxy Nexus because it's just a murky green blob. The Note 2 is certainly shifted to blue, but it's not too bad. And it's really only noticable once you shift it slightly off angle.

Dari, you're a textbook troll. You're not in this thread to offer anything constructive, and you add nothing useful for anyone interested in the Note 2. Yours is just sour grapes bitching about something you don't even own.

People like vi edit offer a constructive view that's actually helpful. You on the other hand do nothing but troll.

[redacted] and move on. vi edit just validated what I wrote and referenced. If you respect his criticism of the device(s), but not mine, I don't give a [hoot]. The end result is the same.

No profanity in the tech forums. Also, you are on vacation for accumulating so many infractions

My problem with both of your posts but especially yours is that you refuse to allow for the possibility that the unit(s) you observed were defective or miscalibrated. Samsung has sold 5 million units. Even if you looked at 20 examples it's statistically insignificant.

I know what a tinted screen looks like. My wife's SGS2 had a tinted screen when compared to mine. Our Notes have no such affliction as demonstrated by the picture I posted for you. Twice.

Dari you never did comment on that picture.

Had a chance to use this phone the other day. Jesus Christ is it nice, the screen is gorgeous!

I've been pretty happy with my gnex, but this was the first phone that really made me want to upgrade. Although i do like on screen buttons - i think the extra screen real estate is worth a little more to me. Unless they completely get rid of the bottom bezel, and can fit the on screen buttons damn near the bottom of the phone, the design of the sgs3 and the note2 is better IMO.

That being said, sadly i still wouldn't give up a nexus branded phone for any phone no matter how nice it is. Im sure this phone will have plenty of dev support, and will run cyanogenmod/AOSP/etc, but ive always found no matter what, non-nexus phones always have more bugs when running AOSP software.

If a nexus note were ever released, id gladly pay whatever they ask.

I have to look at my at a pretty sharp angle to get the blue tint. Beyond my plasma tv, I haven't seen anything at an extreme angle that doesn't have image problems.

Because it's everywhere I look when I see a Note 2. Look at this pic, is this Note 2 defective or miscalibrated? Check out that sea of blue. Even the notification area is blue. It all can't be a coincidence...

Well... yeah, it's a blue background with a blue widget. I have no evidence one way or the other but this isn't good evidence either. You can't post a picture of a screen consisting of 95% things that's supposed to be blue and then complain how blue it is.

edit: this has less that's SUPPOSED to be blue, and it looks pretty good to me *shrugs* http://cdn.pocket-lint.com/images/HlgF/samsung-galaxy-note-2-hands-on-12.jpg?20120830-160805

I haven't seen enough pictures to justify this claim, but it is quite possible that the screen itself is causing this blue effect. Now, I'm not saying the screen is tinted blue or anything, but it's possible the OLEDs are causing some kind of colour distortion with the camera's optics.

With all that said, I've played with 5 Note 2's so far after reading this thread. I played with T-Mo, 2 at AT&T, and 2 at my local VZW store. I did not once notice any blue tint to the screen on any of the devices.

Have you actually physically used one Dari?

And getting back to the Nexus for a second. The screen on mine was actually calibrated to be a warmer colour to the point it was almost yellow. Yes, calibration could be off on some of the devices, but from what I'm getting from your claim, Dari, is that EVERRRRRRRRRRY possible Note 2 suffers from this apparent ridiculous blue tint that no one but you and a handful of people see on every device.

LOL @ posting a picture of the phone with a BLUE background and saying the screen has a blue tint.

Anyways, has anyone tried out the battery save mode? I just turned it on for the first time, going to see how my phone does overnight with it on.

I just swapped to both green and red backgrounds and am not noticing a blue tint.

Also, I used the various color modes to see if that had an effect. Didnt.

The battery life is so good without that, I see no need to try it.

Ok, so I went back and for kicks turned on my old iPHone and browsed these forums. The iPhone is *much* cooler in color temp than the Note. My iPad 3 is probably the best between the three although it has a slight push to a pinkish/yellow color. Side by side, the Note 2 has a much more vibrant screen and natural color temp than my old iPhone4.

And as a side...uh...note...my iPhone now feels comically small. As in it feels like a kids toy small. Really is funny how fast you get used to the size.
