More precisely the verizon version of the note 2 bookloader has been unlocked. Naturally you will have to download a file called "Suck it verizon" that has the necessary files required.... Amusing. Almost temps me to stay with verzon rather than switch to at&t. Have to think about it....

Bootloader has been unlocked! D:

Had a Note 2, but returned it. Not that it's a bad phone - I think it's terrific. But after using it for a couple of weeks, I realized how much I use my phone one-handed. It's almost impossible to do on the Note 2.

The other thing is Android. Fine operating system and all, but just not my cup of tea. Too much customization. I'm used to my phone just working right out of the box, just by entering my iCloud ID. I don't want to download all sorts of widgets and other enhancements to get my phone working the way I want it to. Now, granted, Android offers functionality that iOS just doesn't have, but I'm pretty happy with the iOS experience overall.

I have small hands and I get by OK thanks to the special keyboard. But whatever makes you happy is probably best.

Could someone please run Egypt Classic Offscreen in GLBenchmark 2.5.1? I have rooted/unlocked GNote 2 running Perseus kernel, and I'm somehow getting only ~40-44fps in offscreen (although 58-59fps onscreen). My Egypte HD score is normal, ~19fps.

The more I use this thing, the more I love it. Got to play around with the camera this week on vacation and it's a *VERY* good shooter in almost all settings. Great options and processing features. Video capture is great and the playback on the screen really turns some heads.

The size is really starting to feel a lot more natural and picking up an iPhone just feels..odd. Browsing, mapping, reading emails, watching movies are just such an incredible improvement over the smaller devices that I'm used to.

As far as the stylus goes, I find it very handy for grabbing screen shots of things and slapping it into the notes section. Things like recipes are just easier to copy & past the screenshot and then add a handwritten list below for the other things I need and scratch out what I don't. I use it to simple photoshops of pictures to send out as jokes to friends. If I'm eating dinner and reading something I'll use the stylus as an input device instead of putting a greasy finger on the screen.

It's not a game changing function for me, but it's a nice feature that is slightly more than a novelty.

My only real complaints are with Android itself and some of the quirks of the OS and the maturity of the apps within it's market. They just aren't as polished as the iOS equivalents.

stylus... draw something is amazing with it... cropping and capturing screen shots is awesome... and I've been playing games with the ps3 sixaxis controller... the battery life and big screen are awesome when playing games. (emulators etc).

The multi window is pretty neat, but it needs to support more apps, or at least on Verizon. I really hate trying to remember the passcode for a dial-in meeting. It would be awesome to have both the calendar and dialer app available at the same time.

Got one today on ATT, very impressed.

Question about those of you claiming excellent battery life - is this with stock settings or have you enabled some battery saving features? If so, which ones?

I'm on stock for now. I turned off updates over cellular connections in the play store and that's about it.

Today I've been off the charger for almost 14 hours. I've got about 1 hour game time playing heroes call, an hour playing dominion, a bunch of web browsing, some GPS stuff, 20 minutes of phone calls, pictures, picture browsing, ect. I still have 53% battery life left. And I'm in an area with sorta rough 3G signal strength.

I wish Samsung could finally come up with a 4.1 update (if not straight to 4.2... I have a feeling it's a very small difference whether to port to one or the other?) for the original Note.

Their hardware is nice, but the way they go about updates means I'm likely not buying any of their phones or devices again unless it says "Nexus" on the back or runs Windows 8 Pro.

I did enable them. Whichever ones it suggested. Battery life has been super so far.
In fact too good. I sometimes go too long without recharging cuz I think I dont need it. Then I'm in trouble. With minimal use it can last 4 days. Heavy use is two full days.

Not sure if it matters to anyone else, but 4.2 now has group mms messaging, which is HUGE for me since all of my friends group message, and before the result was getting individual messages from each person, instead of a conversation among a number of people (like in ios).

That feature alone is worth having a nexus, and not having to wait forever for updates. As much as I want another non-nexus because of better hardware - ill never buy a non-nexus phone, and sadly - the nexus 4 isnt a big enough upgrade to get me to switch. I would kill for a nexus note. The demand is there - why not make a super premium phone and sell it for what the galaxy nexus sold for when it first came out.

Give me: 1080p, quad core, 5.5" screen, AOSP, great camera, etc, etc, etc.

6" Minimum, IMHO.

A Note sized Nexus would need a stylus and all the stylus functions to be really worth it IMHO.

Should download Kakaotalk or Naver Line (I prefer Naver Line), great group chatting apps.

If I'm not mistaken, Android has had native pressure-sensitive stylus support since 4.0.

A Nexus with a stylus would make a lot of sense to get app developers supporting styli and to get some manufacturers besides Samsung to offer devices with a stylus. I think in the long run this would benefit Samsung as well. There aren't enough S-Pen devices for most developers to consider stylus support a priority. If the native Android API is good enough, or if Google can get it good enough, Samsung could probably quit developing S-Pen tech altogether. Just leave the trademark for marketing, and behind the scenes use the S-Pen to do regular Android API input unless an app specifically requests S-Pen.

Is there a way to move individual apps to SD card? I have searched a ton and cannot find a concrete answer. Some people say apps like App2SD work, some don't. Some say it is due to JellyBean removing support for that. I read about a program that could trick your phone into using the SD card as the boot drive, but you lose using the internal storage.

All I want to do is select a few large apps and move them to SD. Is it so hard?

By the way, for those who are bothered by the laggy jellybean animations, especially scrolling, go to developer options and change animation rate to .5x for all animations. Much better, more ios like.

I have to say, the Note 2 is a really cool device. However, it's amazing how much less refined it feels in comparison to even early versions of ios. I enjoy some of the app flexibilty, but enough stupid design decisions were made surrounding interface functionality to make the experience incoherent. i'm frequently reminded of the software's presence. Animations feel much nicer under .5x though, so I will see if it grows on me.
