Have you checked under Settings>Wireless and Network>Mobile AP? Wireless Hotspot was built-in feature on the first Galaxy S even on 2.1 Eclair. I doubt Samsung removed it for S2. Check under there if you haven't.

Thanks for that, it was there. On the desire it was a separate application.

The GPS seems excellent to me. It locks on in around 30 seconds and its very accurate.

Can you actually test this with My Tracks?

Horrible. I understand it's not going to be perfect, but that is just bad.

This is one I made when I went for a walk to get my lunch. It's not perfect, but probably accurate to <10m so easily good enough to use for in-car navigation.

Don't know anything about GPS chips, but the Galaxy S2 uses CSR's SiRFstarIV GPS.

That's the litmus test for me. Does it work while driving? That's the only time I need the GPS and where the first Galaxy S fails. My Vibrant is schizo when it comes to Navigation. Sometimes it works and gets me to the location without the crazy constant rerouting and lost signals. But other times it goes crazy and reroutes me halfway across town before settling down.

I think Samsung used Broadcom in their first Galaxy S. I don't know if the problem was Broadcom or Samsung but that GPS was total crap.
