Its hard to get a good bead on the performance of the OMAP4s, so far, most of them have been crippled with MotoBlur and a tiny 512MB of RAM, making them slow and sluggish for even mundane tasks. My T-bolt runs rings around a co-workers new Droid 3, its pathetic. Hopefully, we'll see the Prime on Big Red soon.

The Optimus 3D is running OMAP4 and preliminary numbers for it were a little better than Tegra 2. It's not Exynos but of the alternatives available it may be the next best option.

i'll kill somebody if they don't announce this shit on monday due to irene. KILL

I'm even less excited after looking at the pictures of the 3 US models. It's SGS all over again with slightly different hardware/firmware for each model. It's going to again fragment the development community at XDA and the international SGS II will have the best support with the AT&T close second. T-Mobile Hercules will be the bastard child with different cpu/gpu and baseband.

Pass.

Already delayed to Tuesday.

Thanks for the info.

I am still really excited about the SGS2. I know the "it" feature this year is higher resolution screens, but after watching some programs come completely unglued at qHD (and Nook Color) resolutions I actually WANT a WVGA phone so that I have maximum compatibility. I think it will be over a year until app makers adjust to higher resolutions and until a higher resolution becomes the "standard." It is a crapshoot when you buy a qHD or 720p phone as you don't know which one will have better longterm support.

I don't think the whole PPI discussion has any real validity... the objective is to not see any pixels at your normal viewing distance, and beyond that it's quality of the viewing at your normal viewing distance.

You get ~220 ppi on the GSII... At my viewing distance I can't see pixels, I'm happy.

They could have upped the resolution to qHD or 720p for all we know.

I really hope they upped it to qHD from the 480x800 though. Not a deal breaker either way - just something I would expect from a super phone of this caliber.

I'm pre-ordering the second it's available though...

Well the Sprint SGS2 has the 4.5 Infuse screen which is a a lower PPI:

http://www.engadget.com/2011/08/30/samsung-epic-4g-touch-training-docs-leaked-likely-to-have-4-5-i/

That news has me a little nervous as I would prefer a 4.3 inch like the international SGS2 for AT&T's model. Maybe because AT&T already has an Infuse they will use the 4.3 (I hope).

The event today couldn't come soon enough.

The Epic Touch looks nice. If Verizon caps LTE or doesn't do the Prime, I may switch.

Looks like I'll be getting it the day it comes out assuming Walmart has a subsidized price. I was thinking the Nexus Prime was gonna be the phone I got since it was launching so close to the S2, but apparently it's going to be a Verizon exclusive and I'm not giving up my SERO Premium plan, the rate is too good.

Overclocking from 1.2GHz to 1.5GHz on a Exynos should be a snap.

The thing about AT&T is... aren't they also Rogers? Rogers is getting the LTE version. But maybe AT&T is waiting to offer yet another incremental upgrade version as they did with the Infuse.

dont see anyone else confirmingthis yet... is this true? engadget reports that carriers will announce it at a later date. if that's the case, wtf did i wait for today. this is the worst release ever, even worse, an LTE version is gonna come out too.
