Hi mobile dudes, take this as my personal opinion after a days usage, dont kill me
Screen
The sharpness is not where the ip4 is. If you read text like this forum on say 25cm distance, - as i do (dont laugh) - there is still room for improvement.
Still way sharper than s2, and on normal distance pin sharp.
Color accuracy is out the box better than s2, - for the units i have in the house - and selecting neutral setting on the s3, its fairy close to say ip4 standard.
They colors may still be measured on the to saturated side, but in normal conditions, with light and colours around, i think the subjective impression on the colours give the same impression as reality. Nice.
The whites are white when i look at, and the blacks are black. The whites look very fine to me.
Looking at distance a little from the side, it looks like the the screen is simply printed on. It looks like the glass is thin compared to the s2.
This is the best multimedia screen, but lags in readability compared to the highres lcd.
Given the bigger size, ofcourse is simply walks all over the ip4 whatever the purpose is.
Usage and ergonomics
The phone looks better in reality , i dont have a problem with plastic in a phone, although my last one was nearly oposite, and i got the white version.
The ergonomic is simply first class. The curved design makes the phone feel smaller, on no larger than a s2 when its in my hand. It feels smaller and less intrusive than the heavy ip4. Sliding and moving the phone around in your hands is easy and fast, especially with the glossy plactic. The importance of this can not be under estimated. For most it might be the most important quality of the phone, it simply makes you more effective using the phone.
The sound quality seems better than what i have head before, and i have only had first class phones here, but i will get back with a more detailed test. I listened to some music on a pair of fairly easy to drive closed full headset shure srh 840, and like the sound and it was pleasant, though i could have used some more power. I primarily use my phone for calling, and calling quality seems good so far, but i will get back if its not on top. Why most phones fail here, i have trouble understanding. Its primarily a phone in my world, not a camera or a computer.
Aparently TW is hated by some. I dont understand it. I think its more easy to use than Apple, and the setup of the phone was simple. Not that it matters much, in my world most of the solutions for the new mobiles is fairly easy to use anyway.
Speed and camera
Yes it is fast - the fastest i have tried by far. There is even a subjective marked difference to s2 using 4.03, and some will like the added speed. I think its nice to have, and i apreciate it more after just one day, but could easily live without. Hopefully the hkmg technology combined with the power gated cores, and better granularity for the frequency scaling, will lead to good battery. My short usage havnt made me think otherwise. It looks promising so far.
The camera improves where it matters most for real life.
Compared to the s2 its faster, you simply dont even notice you have taken the picture. That is just so nice - why did it take so long to get here... Then its clearly better for low light, and the HDR makes it takes picture under medium difficult circumstances. Video is fine/acceptable even for a normal camera. That is major quality improvements for real people taking real video and pictures in less than ideal situations. For my take, if it had 5 M Pixels and better low light ability, i would favor that. I simply dont understand why reviewers can continue that stupid Mpix talk.
Summary
All in all, in my world, it feels like a very balanced phone. It looks well done with no errors. I would have like it slimmer and lighter, with tinier bezel , but any way its what this phone does very good already.
Time will tell, but all of the Samsung gear in my house have been having excellent durability.
I have ordered 64 sd sandisk, will get the wireless hdmi option, and get back with some impression once it arives.
Have fun and peace !
