Have you never used the recent apps button?

I have and I love it. But there are plenty of rooms for progress. I would like to send/receive text while watching Youtube video, keep track on forum thread without leaving navigation, write down memos without leaving dialer screen and have it converted in electronic form to upload online, picture-in-picture during video calls and simultaneously being able to check contacts and schedule if necessary. Just a few example how multitasking can be improved and unnecessary trip to home screen can be avoided.

Making apps "float" may help a lot in this regard, as well as virtual "desktops" that can be swiped around at your fingertips. Recent apps button is definitely one of my favorites after having transitioned to Android, but now that I've seen the possibility I don't see why it can't be improved.

Nope, not palming it. Two middle fingers wrapped all the way round and gripping it, little finger at the bottom and first finger bracing it towards the camera. I can reach all the hardware buttons with my thumb. That's with a case on as well.

Yeah, I don't know why people find this difficult to believe. I have relatively small hands, and I can reach all the buttons just fine. I hold it the same way as you, but for me that was just the natural way to hold it. Surprisingly, I can even reach the notification bar with my thumb.

Frankly, I think the capacitive buttons with a physical home button are vastly superior to on screen buttons, but each to his own. If you prefer software buttons, buy an HTC or a nexus, there's something for everybody, no reason why Samsung has to make it the way you like when someone else already is.

Samsung does have the multi-view thing, but I personally think it's use is kinda limited. What they do have that's great though is the pop up browser and pop up video player. They're basically floating windows so you can stay on the screen you're at but watch a video or use a browser in a window that you can move around and resize. It works pretty well.

I think what would be really nice is something like this: You're watching a video or browsing a site or whatever, and you get a text. When you switch to the message app, it comes up and is transparent, so while you're replying to the text you can still see whatever video you're watching.

Lg offers this with the QSlide feature on the Optimus G, you can have a translucent app running on top of a background app.

lg, htc and samsung are all releasing new flagship phones in the next few day/weeks, and they look like pretty significant upgrades. i was just noticing on best buys used website that even now they have a TON of used gs3's. once these new phones are out youre gonna be able to get a gs3 for almost nothing.
