I always wonder if anybody ever uses all those stupid carrier apps. It seems like such a waste of time to even bother to code them. How do they make ATT any money?
I'm using some of them I found useful for my needs like My AT&T, Visual Voicemail and YP Mobile. I disabled the rest of them and they haven't bothered me since.

Review from PhoneArena by John V:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J61ss2PNfeo

Marques Brownlee discusses the Galaxy S6 Edge:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KrxrzzTUPD8

CNET compares the Galaxy S6 and iPhone 6. Although it covered some points, it didn't mention the most important new features that the Galaxy S6 has and the iPhone 6 doesn't:
  • Ultra fast UFS memory (vs the standard memory on the iPhone 6)
  • Curved display technology (vs the flat display technology of the iPhone 6)
  • 14nm processor (vs the 20nm processor on the iPhone 6)
  • LPDDR4 RAM (vs the LPDDR3 RAM on the iPhone 6)
  • 16MP camera with OIS (vs the 8MP camera without OIS on the iPhone 6)

Otherwise I would say the comparison was fair.

Achtung!, still waiting for you to acknowledge that the iP4 you referred to doesn't have any pre installed bloatwear.

So, I was in SoHo today and stopped by the Samsung store. I checked out the GS6, GS6E and Gear VR. The whites on the GS6/E looks sedated as usual, which is disappointing considering all the good things I've heard about this phone. But the colors are nice. Most shocking was the lack of installed apps in the phone. It felt very un-Samsung-like. The GS6E was nice but way over-priced for the extra features it offers. $100 more to be able to see the time and contacts and what-not is stupid. Worse was the tiered pricing of storage. Doubling storage size is an extra $100. So, if you wanted a 64GB GS6E it's $400 on contract or $900 off-contract. Insane. It'll be interesting how things pan out. The camera was excellent. As for the Gear VR, it was extremely disappointing. Definitely a work in progress.

Also, I saw that wild redneck from The Walking Dead at Dean & Deluca on Prince & Broadway.

That kind of tiered pricing is pretty common on the iPhone side, of course... it's just that you're paying for a bigger screen in that case, not just a curved screen. My hunch is that $300 will be the sweet spot here, whether it's a 64GB regular GS6 or the 32GB edge. After that, you're either a die-hard tech junkie or a "must always have the best" type.

I've been surprised at the order threads on xda how many people are buying the 64gb version. I think most assumed only apple could have thus type of tiered pricing and get away with it. Samsung may actually be able to make this extra margin grab work since there's real interest in the phone.

$80 on t-mobile to go from 32gb to 64gb is frankly more than it should be. If it was $50 it would have been fair while still bumping margins. But it's nice to see 64gb and 128gb variants available everywhere.

People forget that carriers abused the presence of the microSD slot pretty fiercely before the GS6. How many hoops did you have to jump through in the past to get more than 16GB in a Galaxy S? Even the 32GB models weren't consistently available, and 64GB was pretty much a unicorn that you only bought if you got your phone unlocked (and, most likely, didn't mind losing LTE). It means you'll ultimately pay for more storage than you need, and likely more than it'd cost to get a microSD card, but at least people who want more built-in storage can actually get it this time.

Honestly I've never seen a non base storage Samsung phone ever from a us carrier or major retailer. It seems that there is willingness to pay for more on board storage which should help margins.

Apparently I just found out that many app from T-mobile that can be disable. I did on my Note 4 to remove T-mo TV and the app is gone lol. But I will have the Black S6 coming soon.

Yeah, there's no question that the GS6 edge looks cool... the question is, will people pay $100 more on contract (even more off-contract) just to get the same phone with a curved display? I'm not sure they will. If curved displays take off, it may not happen until the economies of scale reduce or eliminate the price gap.

I think if you're in the store like I was today and held both in your hand and had to choose which one to buy, it'll surely be the regular version. The Edge version offers nothing compelling to to make it a sales hit. That extra $100 will/should loom large when deciding. But it'll be interesting to see where things go.

Hmmm I stand corrected, I guess I do sort of discount them without even trying them out.

Curious - you're an LG or Sony guy from what I recall. Are you sure you're just not used to the overly cold temps those OEMs tend to go with. The G Pro 2 and Z3 aren't even close to 6500K I believe - so whites are going to be quite blue. HTC tends to skew pretty cold as well. Apple as well, though not as much, until the iPhone 6. So pretty much any popular LCD display prior to the iPhone 6 has set precedent for lots of people for bluish whites.

White point is an objective measurement - and both the Note 4 and S6 are pretty darn close. In every case that someone has thought the whites on my Note 4 in Basic mode seem a bit cream/yellow, it's because they use a whole with an LCD that's quite cold and they've gotten used to it.

Nope, and I have no reason to lie. If SONY or LG's whites were sh!t I would say so. But they're not. I have a G Pro and the whites are definitely not blue or sedated. In fact, the LG is so bright that I'm only comfortable with it at 44% brightness under normal circumstances. The SONY is much brighter but it's my wife's phone. Speaking of her, she also has a Note 3 for work and it has a very bland white but the colors are livelier.

Fact is, Samsung's whites are bland. But we all knew that already. However, this is the first Samsung phone I've seen that did not have a terrible tint. They are definitely making progress but are not quite there yet. Something just isn't right when every color is excellent except white.

Definitely not saying or even implying you're lying. However white balance is measurable, not subjective. LG and Sony are measured to skew cold significantly. It makes sense that you're used to it and feel that it's true white.

Your comment is very common and it's not even a problem if you prefer it. But objectively the Note 4 and S6 are pretty accurate, though slightly warm.

<edit>6504K is accurate - across the board LCDs skew blue, some by quite a bit. Only the iPhone 6 nails it.

Those numbers mean nothing to me. I'd have to check out an iPhone 6 to see what "true" white looks like, but I cannot imagine the perfect white being anything like AMOLED. Those are far too weak. There may be a science to those calculations. However, no one can change the fact that OLED and LCDs have different approaches when it comes to creating the color white, and a back light helps tremendously in the latter. Until LG and SONY start sharing their white OLED tech with Samsung, it'll always look like ass.

Meh - I thought you were a guy who appreciate objective vs subjective, data vs. feelings. I'm not even sure what "weak" whites mean when it comes to displays.

Like I said, you're entitled to your preference but to me, it sounds like everything you use and what you prefer are colder whites. That's fine - but that' not the fault of current AMOLEDs.

Feel free to reply if you want, but I'll bow out of this line of conversation. Like P&N, once someone discards measured data they don't like, there's not really any point continuing b/c preference or belief is impossible to change.

Those apps can be uninstalled.

Also I'm pretty sure iPhones come with the same apps.

Nevertheless shouldn't be a big deal.

Knowing AT&T's apps, that doesn't really count as bloatware. And pretty much every smartphone on AT&T gets those apps, no?

If not, which US carriers don't have pre-installed carrier bloatware?

Those are standard apps though... pretty much everyone uses them.

I don't think carrier bloatware ever crosses the minds of the mainstream.

You are constantly moving the goal post, which seriously undercuts what you appear to do here. I think by now it is obvious to other members but I just want to let you know that your advocative job here probably does not work as you intended.
