S6 has imo the best screen available today. I do have to admit that I am a sucker for deep blacks, but I also care about color accuracy. The S6 is absolutely top notch.

I don't want to.. but tempted to go back to Samsung after the lackluster M9 and the Z4 using S810.. blah.

Any better/cheaper places than a carrier (AT&T) to buy the phone outright?

So uh, my S6 will be here Friday.

Points and screams "shill" (J/K)...

Looks like a great screen, and I have to admit, I got a Note 4 and the VR headset for it, really fun to play with, the VR headset for the SGS6 should be even better with the better screen, there's some pretty significant screen door effect from the Note 4 screen using the VR Gear headset.

That seems like such a bizarre thing to do to me on such a small screen .
A 5 inch screen 5 inches away from your face is the equivalent to a pretty big screen the other side of the room.

Also I can't be arsed to mount and waterproof a big screen above my bath.

Haha I still don't get it personally, but then I only usually watch television a few times a week and see a film maybe once a year or so. So if I'm going to watch something, I can certainly wait until I'm watching it on my 42" TV.

Yeah I could wait until I get home but that would leave be bored on the train, or on my work break, etc

Really you could use the 'why not wait until you get home' argument for everything.
Why go on the web on your phone? My 24 inch monitor is better for that.
Why play any games? My PC at home is way more powerful.
Why read any ebooks? My private library with first editions bound in leather made from the skins of innocents sacrificed to the great one is far more pleasant.

I drive so being entertained on a plane, train, bus doesn't apply to me. I need to be able to browse the web on my phone as I have to press a big 'I accept' button when browsing the Internet on my work PC to agree that my use may be monitored or recorded. I otherwise go for a walk on my lunch break

This. People seem to only account for display size, but forget that how far away that display is from you is an equally important number.

With a Quad-HD resolution, it doesn't matter how far away the display is from you, every image will be sharp.

Tomorrow's the big day, Samsung fanatics. I wonder what Achtung! & S44 will be wearing. One of the guys on our helpdesk support team, a real D&D wizard, said he pre-ordered a 128GB S6 Edge. He said he wasn't happy about the price but wanted to get the best. I told him he was a fool. Seriously, this phone will help Samsung's margins, but at what cost. It'll be interesting to see their numbers in 3 months time (assuming it isn't doctored).

I tried that when I had my PPC 6700. The novelty of watching videos on such a small screen wore off real quick. It hurts the eyes.

Tomorrow's the big day, Samsung fanatics.

The praise for S6 has little to do with Samsung's fanatics. HTC One M9 is a flop, LG G4/Sony Z4 will be crippled by the inferior Snapdragon 808/810. On paper if you don't need removable battery and/or microSD slot as an absolute necessity, the Note 4 and S6/S6 Edge smoke every Android smartphone on the market. However, the S6 delivers an incredible balance of battery life & charge time, fast UFS 2.0 storage, while having class leading camera(s), SoC, screen and build quality. What other phone comes close in a similar form factor? Nothing I can think of.

Instead of making fun of "Samsung fanatics," the question should be worded, name the reasons why anyone would not buy the S6/S6 Edge over any other 2015 Android phone? Professional reviewers agree:

"You should probably buy this phone. In fact, if you have an upgrade available or are in the market for a new smartphone, why aren’t you buying the Galaxy S6? That’s probably the correct question at this point. The Galaxy S6 features the best display in a smartphone, along with the best camera, best build quality, and is the most futureproof. The Samsung Galaxy S6 is not only the best phone available today, it’s going to be for a long time.
Good luck, rest of the smartphone industry. Hopefully, you were preparing for this moment or else 2015 is going to be a rough year for you."

"The Samsung Galaxy S6 is the best Samsung smartphone ever made. Now that's an easy statement to make when it's the newest device to hit the market, but speaking relatively, we think it's the best to launch since the Samsung Galaxy S II fluked its way into favour in 2011. With that in mind, the Samsung Galaxy S6 is not only Samsung's strongest phone to date, it's the strongest Android handset we've seen so far in 2015."

The S6 strikes a perfect balance of screen size + features at its $650-685 price point. <I am an iPhone 5S user and I can easily admit the S6 trumps the iPhone 6 in nearly every metric that matters>

For many people the screen alone is already enough to put the S6 above all other phones since that's what we interact with.

Doesn't take an opthamologist to see that the S6/S6 Edge and Note 4 have the best displays of any smartphone to date.

The praise for S6 has little to do with Samsung's fanatics. HTC One M9 is a flop

Actually (somewhat surprisingly) it appears that the One M9, might actually be doing relatively ok (selling better than the M8):

Although it remains to be seen if this is the case worldwide, and whether or not it can be sustained.

So at least sales wise, it is probably too early to call the One M9 a flop, and by extension the same arguably also goes for other 810 phones.

I think each new Samsung and especially the praise the S6 is getting must drive Dari insane, not sure why he is so invested and puts so much energy in devices he doesnt like

You are right that the sales of the HTC One M9 do not reflect how much of a flop it is as a phone. Worse screen and battery life than the M8. Compared to the S6 -- way worse screen and battery life, worse SoC, worse camera, worse battery life, worse recharging time, way thicker. Pretty much the only things better about the M9 over the S6 are the microSD slot, front facing speakers and HTC Sense if you prefer it over TouchWiz. But to get those 3 benefits, you get a phone so much worse in every other way. What a terrible trade-off.

Before S6 was even released and reviewed, certain posters already showed negativity towards it. That right there tells you they didn't have an open mind about the phone/Samsung as a brand. Almost all of my friends own iPhones and when I told them how great the S6 is vs. iPhone 5S/6/6+, they don't care. In other words, they are so brand attached, the S6 could make dinner, have SoC 1000X faster, have battery 1000X longer lasting, charge 1000X quicker, have a screen with 1000X more pixels and they would still buy an iPhone.
