Went to att to play with the edge and vanilla s6 and the edge felt a bit weird to me. It just didn't feel comfortable, at least for the short period I messed with it. For you guys who have the edge, did it take a long time to get used to? Both phones are fantastic, but I'm still not 100% she which one I'm going to go with.

Was listening to Pocket now podcast, they weren't impressed with the Edge battery life at all. Said 4 hours of screen time was the best they could get (2 different reviewers/phones with their individual tweaks to get the best battery life), the reviewers both preferred the Note 4 if battery life is a concern for you. I love the Note 4, and 6+ for battery life.

I use an iP6 as a daily driver, and it was difficult to get through a whole day, I use an app called "normal" to keep tabs on what uses the battery, Facebook pulls way too much juice, even if you're not using it, deleted the app some time ago and just use the mobile web version.

I do wish manufacturers would make phones just a couple mm thicker and give us better battery life.

Have also found using my Pebble, that battery life is a lot better on the phone, since it has a lot less screen time, and just serves as a data source for the watch. Average up time per charge is 19 hours with current use case. I use 53 different apps, LOL...

This thread is sure a lot more manageable with an ignore in place.

I'm not surprised at all, it's got a fairly small battery. I always thought that it would be on a par with the stock S5 battery life (which is fine for most people)

I'd rather achieve higher battery life by swapping out for a higher capacity battery than just using my phone less.

I notice I use my phone less with the Pebble, I like using the Pebble, was surprised how much difference it made with the phone battery life.

You're surprised that using your phone less increases the battery life?

I just came back from the samsung store in SOHO. Saw the S6 edge in person. Its damn beautiful. I saw the "gold" color one and loved it. Its not gold colored at all IMO, but the front was like a mirror finish and the back looked opalescent. I think I will be selling my note 3 to offset the cost of an S6 edge in gold.

Let me start by saying that I haven't read every post here. My coworker just got an S6 on Verizon, and claims that the touchwiz browser isn't there, and the only browser he has is chrome. Can that be right?

There's a review show on twit.tv streaming network and recent reviews of samsung devices have noted that Samsung has been toning down and streamlining touchwiz compared to how it was before the Note 4 came out. So maybe they just went with Chrome.

You can also try an alternate launcher (similar to a desktop skin for a computer) like Apex Launcher or Nova Launcher and those are noticeably faster than the older touchwiz interfaces.

Do you know if chrome works with the fingerprint scanner? I didn't think it would.

So, it's been almost a week since the Galaxy S6 went on sale and not a peep from Samsung as to sales in the first 24/48/72 hours? All we're hearing is from unconfirmed (and speculative) sources from a suspect Korean dispatch with Chinese numbers by the man with the Anandtech account (Achtung!). I mainly read WSJ, FT, Engadget & TheVerge but saw nothing. You'd think that with the litigation war with Apple all but over Samsung would have an extra kick but I'm hearing nothing.

Samsung says they're on track to selling 30 million Galaxy S6 units by the 26th day of release.

http://www.cnet.com/news/samsung-demand-for-galaxy-s6-steeper-than-expected/

It seems like both Apple and Samsung interpret shipments as sales. Considering that many carriers are out of stock with the original shipments of Galaxy S6 units (20 million) and Samsung claiming to ship another 10 million by the 26th, 30 million sales are likely by the 26th day, which could outpace the iPhone 6 (don't know for sure because Apple never releases sales figures for specific models).

Apple sold 74 million iPhones (including the iPhone 5, 5S, 5C and 6) in Q4 2014. Probably half of them were the iPhone 6 which means 37 million units of the iPhone 6 were sold in 3 months.

Q4 of 2015 will really determine which company has got the upper hand as the iPhone 6S is coming out. The iPhone 6S must surpass iPhone 6 sales or else I think Apple will be in big trouble because it would be their first ever iPhone sales decline.

does it really matter? if you like the phone just get it, if you don't like it then don't buy it. I dont need sales figures to make me feel special about what phone i use

Probably because Samsung is not as assholish as Apple and it's flock flaunting sales and stuff.

I seriously doubt Samsung has even produced 20 million units of the S6/S6 Edge.
Yes, in total they got 30 million orders counting the 20 million pre-orders and 10 million orders after April 10th, but those don't count as sales until the shipments exchange hands from Samsung to the suppliers/customers.

The likely sales figure right now is 13 million, since that is the production output based on insiders.
This is actually the first time a Samsung phone has sold-out in many retail channels, so I'm impressed.

And yes, the iPhone 6S is most likely fail to meet the hype (People will think it looks like dogshit compared to the S6 Edge) and will sell less than the 6.

Nice - mind sharing why you picked it over the normal S6? Looks?

Looks are not the only reason. The Edge version just has that subtle premium feeling like driving a premium car. It just feels really nice and it's hard to explain.

Probably because Samsung is not as assholish as Apple and it's flock flaunting sales and stuff.

Nonsense. Any manufacturer would be happily flaunting sales if they were at the top. A reasonable guess is that the yield rates of the 14nm finFET node and the curved edges aren't high enough for Samsung to produce at a rate to meet the current demand.
They may have 30 million orders, but products don't count as "sold" to manufacturers unless they exchange hands from the manufacturer to the supplier/customer. Insiders claim that Samsung only produced 13 million units so far, so they only sold 13 million if those insiders are correct. It doesn't matter if they have an order for 17 million more. They don't count as sales because Samsung hasn't produced any of those 17 million yet and thus have yet to receive money for them.

I have been seeing non-US versions getting seriously great batterylife. I have seen 7hr SOT on XDA which also included benchmarks. Only US variants seem to be getting weird sleep issues.

Yeah, the S6 is good but not what I can wait as it's not a device that really wows me. I'm crossing my fingers that maybe the S6 Active will be the appeasment for the power users. Give it a sturdy case that can be taken apart to reveal a bigger battery and an microSD slot.

Rumour is that the active will have an SDcard and a 3500mAh battery. Will lose the fingerprint sensor and the pulse sensor. That (the loss of the fingerprint sensor) to me suggests hard keys as well. I'm not expecting to necessarily have an easily removable back like previous Galaxy S's though.

Its supposed to come out some time in the summer (IIRC the variants of the S line usually turn up about 3 months after the original release) but given that sales are so high of the S6 I wouldn't be at all surprised if the release of the S6 active is pushed back so that they can supply all the existing orders of the S6.
