just wanted to chime in here.

i've got a samsung s6 edge 128gb as my "work phone" (app dev, this is my test phone). have had it more or less since it came out.

i am really not that impressed. the screen and the camera are the 2 best things really. though the edge curve seems pointless (coworkers personal phone is a normal S6 and i dont know why you'd want the edge unless you were just trying to set money on fire). the materials are nice, and touchwiz i'd say is awful. the LG skin or HTC skins seems meh, but the samsung one with all its weird alternative apps is easily the most annoying. why does samsung put us through this, with the back and multi task button on the wrong sides etc. samsung royally messes up their implementation of android's api fairly regularly (we've had tons of problems with their S4/S5 lollipop updates) but at least the S6 seems to at least mostly work.

i've got a nexus 5, and a LG G3 and a few other phones at my desk, and this is easily the one that makes you think, WTF, why are you trying to be so different.

I am getting a green Edge (finally!). It's SM-925i which is international version but many @XDA confirmed it works on AT&T and T-Mo. It was a bit of an impulse buy because the price was surprisingly low. I am looking forward to it. It is my first Galaxy. Yay.

Congrats lopri, looking forward to your thoughts on the device.

thx. I hadn't planned on it because I hate to get carrier-branded phones. And for some reason the green ones were nowhere to be found. So I forgot about it after I upgraded my parents' phones couple months ago. Recent AT article on Exynos 7420 caught my attention and while I haven't finished reading it it nonetheless triggered me to surf around the web to see what's happening with the S6/Edge.

It's Andrei's fault, for sure.

My s6 sadly went for a swim this weekend on vacation wish I could recover the pictures. Anyways, now I have to decide between a G4 and an S6.

I'm thinking that an S6 active might be a better choice.
Indeed, I'm on AT&T, so that is an option. I'm always careful, but I was extremely tired and wasn't thinking properly when I went in the water. This was at Silver Lake, MI. We were climbing the sand dunes, and decided to go to the beach, and my phone was in my pocket. When I got back to the cabin, I put the phone in some rice, but no luck.

Anyways, I might go G4 because microSD expansion. I probably will end up waiting for OnePlus Two. I just don't know if I'll be patient enough for an invite.

Dropping 3% in 20 minutes? That's pretty normal if you had data/WiFi on and some background programs as well.

Happens to all other modern phones.

Eh? He said he was doing absolutely nothing, My iP6+ when I go to bed I don't disable anything. I might lose 3% in 6 hours of sleep, if that. Dunno what kind of phones you've owned where that's anywhere close to normal.

Sony Z3? Thats waterproof and has a good battery and has a microSD. (and I think it works on AT&T but dont quote me on that as your US carriers are way too convoluted)

I'd just stay away from Samsung - owning the s6 edge has been such a chore, I'm just personally never get another samsung phone. the g4 looks nice.

That is an odd response to a post where a user stated s/he accidentally damaged a phone.

Yeah, the Z3/Z3+ look alright...:| It's not very appealing compared to the other Android flagships.

I liked my S6 - the only thing I didn't like were the bloat, and slow fingerprint reader - I mean it was slow, and inaccurate. I got spoiled by the iPhone 6's TouchID. I might have had a defective unit?
They will be on Ebay.
Oh I'm sure they will, wonder how much they'll go for.

Been using regular Verizon S6 for a week.

I must be the only one happy with the battery life. It's not as good as my trusty Note 3, but it only loses 15% more on a regular day. However, I did debloat and freeze apps as much as I could out of the box. It is now rooted (OE2) and tether provision hacked. All day tether is just as reliable as Note 3. It does get a little hot when pushed, but so does every other phone.

So far, very impressed, especially with the screen and camera. Best camera on a smart phone hands down. Just in time for my road trip from Munchen to Paris in September.

My girlfriend has been using a S6 edge for a couple weeks now since her HTC one (M7) took a hit from a wave when we were at the beach. She loves it so far, gets better battery life than her M7 did (to be expected since it was more than 2 years old) but the camera and screen absolutely blow away the M7. I'm pretty impressed by the camera, I can honestly say it's the most impressive phone camera I've used yet, my Note 4 is nice but the S6 camera is just so much faster, I'd say it might even be faster than the iphone 6 camera. I don't think she's tried the fingerprint sensor yet, honestly I forgot the newer samsung phones had it since it was so terrible on the Note 4 it might as well not have existed.

However I will say I wish she had gotten the regular S6 instead, she thinks the edge looks cool which I agree with but the curved screen seems incredibly pointless and isn't worth it.

I haven't followed the S6 dev, but I assume the Verizon boot loader is still locked right? What's the root method?

Still locked and probably forever. Being on Verizon I am used to it now and just assume the same for every phone I get. I figure I'll switch phone every year, so I am not losing much.

I used pingpong root on build OE2. Anything newer has no root (yet). I got lucky because I could've gotten one with latest OTA update.

My brother still loves his. He doesn't do much calling but a lot of facebook and texting. He has ~50% on average at the end of the day.

With the new moto phones and the oneplus two being at least a millimeter thicker than the phones they replace, and the Verizon version of the xperia Z4 being thicker than the standard model, I don't see any need to upgrade from my Droid Maxx right now. Screen is about the right size, battery life is good, and the SOC/camera is good enough for whatever I'm doing. I can wait to see the new Nexus phones, or maybe all the way to the S7. As nice as the S6 really is, for some reason it doesn't feel right in my hand. Hard to explain.

One more thing I want to add:

I love the clarity of calls (compared to previous Verizon phones I've had like Note 3, iPhone 5....etc). I am on the phone all the time and this phone is great. I think it has to do with an option named "advanced calling", but I haven't looked into it.

That's not an S6-specific thing -- most likely, you're referring to voice over LTE (aka HD calling, as some carriers put it). The iPhone 6 and other devices can handle it, too.
