Agreed. My rule of thumb is, I'll consider buying something refurb if it's primarily solid state (no moving parts -- computers, modems, whatever), but not if it's a good part mechanical (printer, monitor, etc) - these can get worn out/out of alignment.

Besides, the price is only barely tempting even if it were new, I would still go (and might still yet go) for the samsung 1710, new, for only $55 more AR:

I look at this, and then I looked over at my Lexmark e210, and they are identical, even to the little paper support "Fin".

Cartridges cost aroun $75.00 for the Lexmark, are they any different for this one?

i actually just bought a samsung 1710 from frys last weekend for $129 AR.

Toner for the Samsung cost me about $65. Great little printer. I use it at the office printing legal size text documents as a back up printer when our office printer jams or is busy. Works great on letter head too. I buy alot of things Refurb, but the post above is right, stay away from Refurb items with moving parts. Our office bought a real nice Commercial Canon Copier, Scanner, FAX type unit and its been nothin but trouble constantly. Luckily the unit is under service agreement, poor ICON people, I see that TECH guy here to fix the unit more than my wife

I bought my refurbed NEC Superscript 860 about 4 years ago. It's finally started to run low on toner which costs an arm & a leg. Never had any problems with it though.
I want to get a new printer that prints on both sides & has a paper tray vice the sheet loader thingy.
