Someone talk me out of this badboy... Im getting buyers itch / remorse not even ordering it, but it looks to me honestly like the perfect monitor.

Pros:
Ultra Mega Super Extreme Wide.... 5120x1440 pixels
240Hz while not being TN pannel.
QLED
HDR1000
49 Inches!! 44.4 inches wide, with a 1000R curve radius.
1ms response time.... absolutely amazing for a non TN panel.

Cons:
Because of the 1000R curve radius, it has a lot of forward weight which prevents most VESA mounts.
Its 44.4 inches wide which can cause issues of running out of desktop real estate.
I hear the old stock has issues with QC, but samsung fixed this and new stock is fixed.
Its a very expensive monitor.

So lets hear your thoughts on it.

I keep having to push myself away from the Samsung G9, but my interest was piqued by one specific feature that I didn't realize that it had... split mode. Since the G9 is effectively just two WQHD panels in one (2560 + 2560 x 1440), it has the ability to be two 2560x1440 panels as long as you provide two inputs. This may seem weird... why even use a large display if you're going to treat it like two? Well, the lack of a bezel is quite nice. You can still do surround gaming as Windows will just look at it as two 2560x1440 monitors instead of one 5120x1440 monitor.

Now, to note, part of the reason why I'd consider this is that I don't have much experience with these huge monitors. How well does Windows handle them as a single monitor? I mostly just leave things like Chrome and IRC open on my second monitor. I know you can use split view to effectively halve a monitor (I use this on my touch screen kitchen PC a lot), but I don't know if that's a great solution for this.

Although, the lack of an actual G-Sync module is a bit of a downside for me, and that really tempers my desire. It seems like an awkward omission to leave out in such a pricey monitor.
With Microsoft powertoys and fancy zones, you can setup your screen as you see fit. I have 2/3 for one zone and then 1/3 for the rest.

You can be far more flexible with the setup, compared to 2x 1440p monitors side by side.

Samsung for some reason has no monitors with gsync modules.

I don't think that will be an issue since the newer model is the 97T. I'm also contemplating this monitor, I found it in stock at $1350, to compliment my XFX MERC 319 RX 6900 XT Black edition GPU. I'm staring at it right now but haven't dropped it into my cart yet. My current HP Envy 34c is 6 years old now and only refreshes at 60hz but it's been a great monitor.

If I do go ahead and purchase it then I'll have an excuse for some new speakers since I don't like to wear headphones all the time.
I would like to know before investing in 6x00 card.

Did you get a block for your 3090 yet? I see watercool.de has water blocks

no not yet.... the only block i can find is from bykski and well i currently have one and im not too impressed with it.
I really want an eK or a OptimusPC block.

watrercool.de only has the XC version, while mine is the FTW3 ultra.

I can not seem to find the eK anywhere state side, and i am seriously losing faith in optimusPC ever having them in stock.
Infact i am hearing a lot of bad stuff about them in orders and shipping time, that i may have to cross them off my list.

Is the FTW3 Ultra different from the FTW3? Pcpartpicker has a few Alphacool FTW3 in stock.

I don't blame you. I watched some additional reviews of it and between all of the tweeks peeps have to make to get it to behave decently and the wobbly stand I think I'm going to pass on it.

In daily use the stand is not a problem, maybe if you have people walking by you all the time, or you jump around in your seat, but when you're just sitting at you desk gaming, it is not a problem.

The screen was made before the 3xxx series, and the recent firmware seems to have fixed the problems. And it seems like AMD was able to fix their problems with a driver update. So at least all parties work on fixing the issues.

I think I will wait upgrading my video card until next generation is launched, or maybe see what the Q4 refresh will bring.

Did you put in an order for the EK block? I've had mine for awhile now, however I went with the acetal d-rgb version to match the rest of the build. I also ended up with a second black backplate.

Press release:
Samsung to update Odyssey G9 gaming monitor with Quantum MiniLED technology, announces 85 inch Neo QLED 8K TVs - VideoCardz.com

The only thing regarding G9:

In 2020, the Odyssey G9 gaming monitor generated a lot of buzz—this year, Samsung is leveling up the experience with a Quantum MiniLED display and premium gaming features. The 1000R screen curvature, combined with Quantum MiniLED display technology, gives gamers an experience unlike any other. The new G9 joins Samsung’s full lineup of curved and flat Odyssey gaming monitors.

It doesn't state which size and resolution though.

They should better differentiate between the different models. The G9 has two models, the 95t and the newer 97t and places like Best Buy are selling the older one as the newer one.

I just read that Samsung is updating it for 2021 with micro LED's and that it should be released in the spring.

Well with micro LEDs I may take the plunge into my first curved monitor. It's not like I'll be sitting next to someone sharing the same screen. I guess from what I've read if I stay in the center or the right place and don't move around too much then it will be just fine visually.

I also saw that Samsung is bringing that 1000R curve to their smaller units this year. Best buy has a placeholder for one of them up right now.

yes...

i was always hitting my head on the wall on why i did not pickup the amazon preorder when it was 1279.99 after inventory went dry.
I am sort of glad i didn't after reading this.

However i hear rumor says it will cost 1699.99 now, and not the 1399.99 the original G9 retailed at.

So i am guessing i will most likely end up waiting again, and seeing if the new LG 4k OLED displays will come out, as i really really would like and love a OLED due to me watching more movies and youtube then sitting in front of a game.

If LG just had a 32" - 36" version of the CX/C1 it would be perfect as a monitor.

It would, but it seems a bit too hard for them to do right now. They are apparently releasing a 31.5 inch OLED screen later this year, but its 1080P only.

The 42" TV later this year may be a winner!
