There is a BOGO promo for T-mobile. That, combined with the fact that you can get a Gear VR and Netflix for each one is huge. I basically went splitsies with a family member on a new S7 edge so it's pretty much $410~ dollars per phone after tax (will get a rebate for full price of the phone) plus the cost of new line activation ($10/mo since I'm on a grandfathered plan). Assuming you wanted a Gear VR and watch netflix that's basically about $200 for a new S7 edge. No way I can say no to that!!!
The SD card slot return should be qualified as the first ever UHS-II MicroSDXC compatible slot with extra row of pins in any device besides high end cameras to date!
The reason behind it’s return revolves around the fact Samsung was successful in pressuring SDA membership into getting licensing fees reduced. Since eMMC 4.0 memory controller came out almost 4 yrs ago and no smartphone maker was willing to pay the monstrous licensing fees demanded by Microsoft for Ex-FAT combined with UHS-II and eMMC 4.0 upgraded features.
Only High End Camera Makers were willing to pay the the price of licensing. When those fees were greater than the cost of the new hardware slot itself. It took Samsung threatening to leave the SDA membership to bring them to their senses. A whole lot of Samsung S6 and Note 5 phones selling changed their minds real quick! ……being by far greater than all S5 models sold to date!!!
Not only that, but the new slot supports both eMMC 4.0 to 5.0 memory Standards, along with full use of UFS 2.0 memory controller standards too. Which is set to replace eMMC 5.0 Standards in the near future. By doing this…. Samsung has ensured that old slower memory cards will indeed be able to be read and written to by the UFS 2.0 memory controller. Still thinking of whether to get the S7 or not. I heavily prefer a phone that is 5 to 5.1 inches and I don't know if the next nexus phones will be like that.
The smaller nexus variance typically have lower specs than the Samsung flagships.

I'm royally pissed. Ordered my S7 edge 3/1 and its still processing even tho they charged my card. And now they say its backordered 10-14 days. If I miss the gear VR promo because of this BS I am returning it!
I ordered mine on Thursday. They say it won't ship till 3/31, I WAS expecting a call tonight from a late-shift (till 2am) rep who was supposed to find out how I can redeem the promo, but I think I will call somebody tomorrow and ask them.

Nice. I just called Verizon and Samsung and was told that since I can't fill out the claims form and submit it before the deadline, I can't participate. I'm out. I'll get one at a later date.
I have to call tomorrow to cancel my pre-order, because Verizon's systems are down right now and won't be back up till after I go to work.

I wouldn't call Samsung a liar in this case, but you'd think it'd have anticipated demand. Apple has seen this every year since the iPhone 5s showed up in gold: every time you have a hot new colour, it's the first to sell out. i'm somewhat surprised the gold S7 hasn't seen a similar effect, but that's probably just because people like the black so much.

Gold was "new" for the S6. Silver is new and for the s7 Edge only.
I called around. Nobody has the silver in stock. Closest BBuy to me had 3 come in on launch day. Not expecting any for at least two weeks. VZW store doesn't have any either.
Yeah it seems to be the most popular combo - with the Edge taking 2/3s of orders on top of that. Not my cup of tea but it's certainly...shiny.
