^ They look pretty equal to me

The Adreno 530 is a bit better than the Mali judging by the numbers so far. If you don't game then it doesn't really matter much I think but that difference I would guess plays into the batt life.

A phone maker needs to make a head-fi oriented phone. It's an unrealized market!

It would cost a thousand dollars more because they would go the Monster Cable route to try and lure in audiophools, I mean audiophiles. You know, the guys who buy $10,000/ft power cables.

It seems like the exynos version is vastly superior in terms of battery life at least from Ars testing
http://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2016/03/samsung-galaxy-s7-and-s7-edge-review-the-galaxy-s6-2-0/

Holy crap, if that's true. It's not completely conclusive, like they said, since they were tested by different people, in different locations, with different external factors. But if the Exynos regular S7 really lasts longer than the Snapdragon S7 edge with the bigger battery, that would be crazy. Maybe it makes sense since these are the first customized cores from Samsung and they know what they need to optimize the SoC. Need to see more data on this one.

Now that the bootloader is locked anyway it may be time to consider swapping to Exynos for the better DAC...

Yeah, looks like that's what I'll be doing in the future if this is the trend going forward. I've always been wary of doing that for whatever reasons, but it sounds like a really good idea now that I think about. The Exynos SoCs are pretty good now, especially if they give better battery life. Any differences in performance don't bother me too much, as anything would be a sizable upgrade from my 2014 phone. The better DAC would be nice since I've rather missed the good audio quality of the iPhone 4 I had. And, of course, easy rooting and ROM loading. Since I only care about debloated TouchWiz ROMs, the lack of AOSP/CM stuff don't bother me. It's mostly win-win I think.

I'm not sure if this is the right place for this, but the thread does contain "rumors" in the title, and I don't think that this warrants a thread...

I've seen some rumors about an S7 mini which looks like a direct competitor to the Sony compacts (and other small phones)- 4.6", SD 820 (or exynos 8890), 3GB ram, 720p.

http://www.sammobile.com/2016/03/14...with-snapdragon-820-or-exynos-8890-processor/

As it seems that Sony has replaced their Z line with a "one size" X line (i.e. no more compacts), this phone might replace my z3c one day, although I *really* dislike touchwiz. (Of course, this is only if the rumors are true)

I thought about flipping these too but it will be difficult.
The problem is that you're still making payments on them so how can you convince anyone to buy these when the device is not paid off yet.
And I wouldn't want to pay these off until I get my prepaid card so......
I bought a Note 4 for $280 just a week ago and I hesitated in getting mine but for $455-Netflix-VR gear is too great to pass up. I got a friend of mine to go in with me. Guess I will return the Note 4.

Eh. I can pay the phone in full if I have to.

A current-gen processor with that screen will have crazy battery and effective GPU.

Sarcasm aside it really would not be difficult or expensive for them to include a more musical DAC and a stronger amp. It would go a long way in attracting more serious music listen users. It would simply have to be another goal for them and atm it doesn't seem to remotely be on their list of things to scratch off.

That said the SD S7's really aren't that bad technically if we look at the measured results at XDA. There is some bug with the stock sound app/eq that when used the output goes to crap. It might be patchable.

It may not actually cost that much more, but I'd put money on it increasing the price a lot - just like moving up to the next tier of storage does.

Personally, I wouldn't pay extra for it. I only listen to music through Bluetooth streaming and couldn't care less about wired audio on my phone. The DAC in my truck's stereo is far more important.

You want a beefy DAC, go buy a G5.

Eh. I can pay the phone in full if I have to.

Of course you can but you do risk losing a $780 prepaid debit card before paying off the phone.
Lets say you get the phones and flip them. When they look at the rebate submission and they don't see the EIP plan, do they not send you the rebate ??
So in order to flip the phones, you need to wait at least 6-8 weeks to get the prepaid debit card before paying off the phones and selling them.

I didn't understand the terms that way. I mean what can they say? "I'm financially stable and would like to pay off my phone so I don't have payments."

The BOGO states that both phones must be under the EIP to get the rebate, but do what you want... shrugs.

If my phone is under EIP, is it locked to using only SIMs on my account?

You can use any sim you want as long as it's T-mobile, MetroPCS Ultra etc.. pretty much T-mobile or their MVNO.
It's not tied specifically to your account, but your EIP would be.

Isn't that the same thing. Under EIP you can't resell it. Trying to activate the IMEI on another carrier would get flagged me thinks?

You can't use it on any carrier out of T-mobile or T-mobile MVNO since the phones are network locked.

I've seen people sell EIP phones all the time including EBAY and Swappa. And it's really shitty since people who purchase these not knowing or knowingly purchase and get screwed at the end when the seller does not pay the EIP.
That's why you hear horror stories of people saying they bought the phone but it got blacklisted. Sellers are either not paying and keeping the money for themselves or committing insurance fraud.

Yeap that's what I meant not just carrier but the IMEI is flagged if under EIP. I've seen S7's for sale already and you have to wonder sometimes. You know that's still under EIP as the rebates have not been issued yet. Who'd want to risk, but I guess the fact is many actually do or don't care.

I put mine up for sale.
I paid off the EIP I dont think it matters whether it's paid off or not as long as you did the agreement in regards to the rebate.

As long as you get your rebate it is all the same. And I hope you get yours in the mail. I hope I get mine, crosses fingers.

As soon as someone buys mine I'll call in and pay the full EIP. Hopefully it sells soons.

Also I see people on SlickDeals putting their sim into the phone for a day. Did you guys do that too?
