I just did this deal at J&R musicworld (www.jandr.com):

samsung SyncMaster 191t $799.99 + $18.99 shiping - $100 rebate = $718

Its on their web page for $899.88. I had them price match it to techdepot who has it at $799.99 (buy.com also lists it at $798.99 but its currently backordered)

the $100 rebate is from samsung. its vaild only if purcased from the following web sites abc warehouse, american tv, datavision, fry's, J&R.

must be purchased by FEB 1, 2003. Must be postmarked by march 1.

Sorry, I don't know how to do links. you can download the pdf rebate off J&R's web page.

keep in mind that gaming on this monitor sucks, but for text and web surfing this monitor can't be beat!

I have the Dell 1900fp and i can attest to it's greatness. I have seen the Samsung 191t with swivel feature. It's very cool in theory, but not in practice. I thought it would be a nice option to have for when I am writing papers, designing flyers, etc., but given the 4:3 aspect ratio, it really doesn't make a substantial difference. And the warranty is 3yrs from Dell. I think it is only one year on non-dell products (and the 1900fp is technically a dell product). Just some insight...

The swivel feature comes in much handier when the monitor isn't your main one. Then you can offload your email and other programs to the second, swiveled monitor and continue life normally on your main one.

I have the 191t. Yes its not so great on gaming. But it is perfect in everything else. I dont use the swivel feature much since cleartype doesnt really look right that way. I'd say save your money and get the dell for much cheaper i think.

I have not had any issues "Gaming" on my 1900fp...

There have been documented occurrances of problems in NOLF2, and a few others but...
I've had no[ZERO} problem in JDK2,grand prix4,nolf1,madden,max payne,unreal,SWstarfighter,hitman2,mafia...& a ton more...
very little ghosting...i've experienced none that I can remember as "bad" ghosting, and i've had it for about 4 months....this is a great monitor!!!
....never regreted the purchase..
I agree... get the Dell, it's gone for $674 as recently as last week....and they'll be moving them out for the new years model here soon i'm sure....

Great display but not the best for graphics work. Check Hitachi or Viewsonic. Dell is good too!

who are you geba, who says viewsonc and hitachi lcds are better for graphics work than the samsung?

dacalo is right, only if you are REALLY serious about hardcore graphics work though, use a crt, otherwise, this 191t's fine

Also, I've noticed that the 191t is a bit inferior to a CRT in gaming, but it looks much nicer to the eyes, in situations where you aren't moving around a lot. So, this is the definitive answer for you out there wondering: I have a 191t, wish I wouldn've got a Dell 1900fp for cheaper (not sure if there has been a deal below $700 since before christmas though, KELBOY, what are you talking about? I've been watching so that I wouldn't feel bad for buying the 191t, and I still haven't seen it go below $700 for a long time, maybe before taxes at the small business site, but it eventually comes to $725 or so).

Anyways, I have the 191t, and it is actually quite fine and good for all types of gaming, as far as I can tell, and I play lots of fps's (sof2, rtcw..).

Movies look absolutely much better on this than on CRT!!! (just so you know)

There's just some getting used to with gaming on this monitor, nothing huge, believe me, but its "different" than a CRT, and if you've been looking at this monitor, I'd say get it if you need it, but wait for the next gen-LCDs if you can wait. Again, its not a huge deal, but, I notice a slight "difference" when compared with a traditional CRT. It's there, but its fine. Not a big deal. It still looks great, and I'm happy I own one (but I wish I would've gotten this deal, its $70 cheaper than what I paid). Peace.

With a couple of coupons and free shipping, I ordered the Dell 19" 1900FP for less than $650 just last week, but its on backorder for up to 4 weeks The completely huge range of opinions about this monitor for gaming are quite amusing. I've seen one in person (the Samsung) at a Best Buy hooked up to a demo machine running an FPS game, and it looked quite good to me.

thanks to all that replied. Great job with the links and adding the reviews! Very useful info. I did not know about the dell monitor but I liked the pivot feature of the samsung. Plus I thought it had a better picture than the similar viewsonic and sony models.

I thought the 191t was a super deal and wanted to pass it along(a bit better than the $899+tax price at frys). It looks like it was just a good deal. I am working on a new building a new system and I needed a monitor for my old computer. I still plan to use my viewsonic p815 as my primary monitor.

To all you guys looking for deals on the 191T/1900FP: A deal is all relative. I got a great deal on my 1900FP when I bought it last April. I saved almsot $300 using a Dell 20% off + a few other coupns including free shipping. I payed around $1100 for it:Q. Retail was $1500 back then. I have no regrets though, this monitor is the best computer=related purchase I've ever made. I just love it.

Yes one (or maybe both) of the Dell 17" flat panels is OEM'd from Samsung. The 1800FP is from LG and is missing some features on the LG-branded version such as the USB hub.
