Samsung X10 Centrinos in USA?

Is there anywhere to get a Samsung X10 notebook w/ Centrino and GF4go in the US? Really dont want to get a Dell

i doubt samsung will enter the us market any time soon, as they are very cautious when entering a competitive market such as the one in US. Although, u could definitely just order the laptop from UK sites.

You know, I just love living in the most difficult and complex market for anything cool to enter. I would just hate having all the latest toys from TW and JP. I have to get a new laptop for grad school this fall, and I originally wanted the P10, and then subsequently the X10. I contacted multiple Samsung distributors from the UK and HK. No one will ship the X10, or any other Samsung notebook to the U.S.- no exceptions. While it was never explicitly mentioned, I get the impression from all the reps I conversed with that Samsung has gone to some length to keep its notebooks out of the states. I was informed that Samsung markets its line via www.micronpc.com- but it doesn't take more than a few neurons banging away to note that these laptops are crap next to the true Samsung line. I almost had a friend of a friend who lives in HK buy and ship one for me, however the freakishly nightmarish tech support one would get in the U.S. would be the electronic equivalent of the Yugo... or maybe valuejet. I'm thinking Sony Z1 instead- and before someone thinks they can bring this nugget to my attention, I'm well aware the 3-d graphics processing blows daisies in space. Good thing my wife doesn't let me play games anyway.

IMHO, u should hold off the Z1 purchase, as there is a high possibility that sony will soon release a new model to replace the z1 (z2?).

I think Samsung test to see if the US market was ready for them through the VprMatrix computers.

Traditionally, ultra-lights have not made it big in the US markets; Europe and Asia pick up things like Mini-Disc, DVDs and other such products much faster. The Thinkpad X31 and the Toshiba Porteges are considered some of the lightest laptops; but if you look at international markets we're way behind...

My point? It's not only Samsung - the industry knows we car less about size (haha) in terms of electronics. Big country, big houses, big rooms, big desks, I guess!

OEM's in the US resell Samsung notebooks, notably both Dell and Gateway.

My Gateway 3420 is actually a Samsung P10. Dell's ultralight is also a Samsung. I imagine one of the two will bring the X10 to the US sometime soon.
