SamsungRapidApp - what is it?

I notice that when RAPID mode is enabled on my Samsung SSD, it adds an extra startup utility to HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run. It is called SamsungRapidApp and described as "Samsung RAPID Mode Notification Utility".

What exactly is this "notification utility" supposed to notify about? And who?

As far as I understand, the actual RAPID mode functionality is implemented by Samsung RAPID Mode Service. So, what is this SamsungRapidApp utility then? Is it necessary? And if so, then what for?

It's a a Caching mechanism designed to cheat benchmark programs so Samsung drives appear to have superior performance.

If you turn on CRAPID mode, you are not benchmarking your SSD anymore, you are benchmarking your RAM.

Translate that intro real world performance and it means absolutely nothing.

For example, test this.....

Copy a huge 10GB + video file or whatever large file you want from your C: partition to another partition on another disk......

you will notice that the Windows file copy progress finishes insanely fast.....the moment it finishes the copy, I want you to restart your system

then check that file you copied, it would be corrupt, reason is, yes the file copy progress finished fast, but it didn't finish really, all it was doing is copying the file from your RAM cache (RAPID) onto the real disk.

so it's just cheating + placebo effect

And after you read this, you will never enable RAPID again.....it will actually make your performance worse not better

I know what Samsung RAPID mode is.

My question is what role in the whole thing is played by this SamsungRapidApp, started from registry. Is this an essential part of RAPID functionality? Or is it just some sort of completely non-essential dormant GUI "notifier" for some sort of event?

I would assume it necessary for when you want to enable RAPID as RAPID has no GUI whatsoever, just a background process and that reg entry

I guess is is either a notifyer for the user or ist is some sort of flag for the Magician Software.
