San Diego and 4x512MB = 1T?

Hello fellow Forum members,

Is anyone out there running a San Diego chip and four 512MB (double-sided) DIMMs in their system at a 1T Command Rate? If so, please post your system specs and highest FSB and memory timings for me.

I would appreciate this and I think other Forum members would as well. Thanks in advance!

I thought someone said they did but I'm not sure if he said it was single or double sided. =T If it's true, it would be awesome!

I have seen many threads that show the 1t versus 2t is not as big a deal as thought. Do a search and you will find some comprehensive benchmarks showing an overall difference of 3% or something. I haven't personally seen any 4dimm filled Venice/San Diego chips doing 1t. They are doing PC 3200 however as opposed to PC 2700.

I'll be able to test the Venice with 4 double-sided dimms @ 1T theory in a few days hopefully.

First I have to get some other things working properly on my new system.

From everything i have heard though, you can run the 4 dimms @ DDR400, but it will be at 2T.

officially AMD states that only single sided DIMMS will work on 1T, when four slots are occupied, but i would be interested in whether you could push 1T on them, maybe some chips might be able to do it.

Yes, I know that the theoretical difference is minimal, but for me the difference between 1T and 2T is 8+ FPS. Not a world of difference but still enough for me to keep my main rig at 1GB instead of going with 2GB. Its just that I have a "spare" 1GB Mushkin PC3500 Level II DualPack just sitting in my desk drawer. Expensive, useless, high-end memory.

Please post your results later n7. That will suck if you still have to run 2T. I was hoping that the NF4 and San Diego/Venice revisions would allow the use of tight timings and 1T Command Rate.

One can only hope, RichUK.

Thanks for the straight answer BlingBlingArsch. I was hoping the new (Revision "E") chip would be able to run four 512MB DIMMs at 1T.

I like the 1T timing for games, but it would be nice to install another GB for high-res photo editing in Photoshop and other image-editing software. Guess I'm SOL for now.
