In depth review of Prototype consumer SF-2200 drive. $500 for 223GB after 7% overprovisioning and firmware. Drives available in the future with 0% overprovisioning. It's kinda funny, ssd review is always harping that typical users won't care about seq speeds as much as random 4k, but I'm pretty sure that anyone that is buying this drive is also probably a gamer, and games are pretty much seq read benchmarks.

I merely glanced at Anand's preview so correct me if I'm wrong. The Vertex 3 is FASTER than the Vertex 3 Pro AND cheaper? Sounds too good to be true but if it is, that's great news.

it's not final firmware yet, and the non pro is lacking a few features that the pro has.

Yea, basically between when the pro firmware was written and the regular firmware was written, Sandforce figured out a way to squeeze more performance out. I would wager that if you tested the pro with the updated firmware, they would be almost exactly the same.

The consumer based IOPS limitations are completely dumb if they're going to give a free pass to certain MFRs and not to others.

If other brand drives are remotely comparable, I won't be giving sandforce any money due to this stupid non-spec.

So, we'll be giving uncapped firmwares to Manufacturers X, Y, and Z. This totally screws over Manufacturers A, B, and C, and any consumers who do extensive homework on every purchase, your loss is our gain, thanks!

No. If G3 or c400 is remotely competitive that will be the direction I head.
