No they're going to say pay full price when you get to the register
And then try to sell you a warranty too! Those cunning bastards!

They changed the ad and took away the pricing! :|
WOW...so for hard core gaming, are most of you going with the 2500k?
**EDIT
Based on this, http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2374890,00.asp , maybe the 2600K is worth it just for the fan?
I think the fan will be there since it's almost exactly the same as one that was previously sold with an Intel CPU. Plus, who is gonna buy Intel aftermarket CPU coolers?
So 8MB cache vs. 6MB cache and Hyperthreading and if the good cooler comes with it then it may just be worth the extra $100.
The Hyperthreading issue has me wondering if it may be really good insurance to get now. I could see one new really great game come out that uses it well and 4 cores (2500k) versus 8 Threads (2600k) might be very significant. How significant is the question but I kinda of expect to see the day when software will come out like this before I'm ready for another CPU upgrade.
there isn't a game in existence or even in development right that can make effective use of more than 4 cores. even then h/t doesn't provide much benefit over 4 standard cores, I think my i7 @ 4.0 gets ~ 10% more ppd with ht enabled than without. 2500k looks to be by far the better cpu.
hey guys...i need a new machine to do my photo/video editing work..
believe it or not i'm using my amd 6000+ to do my work...
time toupgrade!
what do you guys recommend for me? I also need RAM, PS, Case, video card, etc
my budget is around $1500 for everything except for monitor, keyboard/mouse
thanks !
Gigabyte using black PCB's now ?
Do you plan on gaming with it? Resolution of monitor?
X-plane 10 will be able to utilize an unlimited number of cores.
For a Motherboard get a good P67 board, gigabyte is my go to company for boards right now. The P67 is for discret graphics and overclocking.
Ram get some good 1600 or faster ram. I don't go by name but by specs. Most of them use the same chips now anyways. I got my 4 gig of DDR3 1600 for less than $40 AR at newegg
Power supply get a namebrand 80%+ one. As long as its 500watt or more and meets the 80%+ spec you should be ok. I got mine for less than $50 AR on newegg

What about this mobo here from ASUS?

Ive had good luck with them in the past but its been a while.
Not that this is a deal breaker, but isn't Gigabyte one of the companies that refuses to to use UEFI on Sandy Bridge? They are basically still using BIOS, but hacking it to look like EFI right?

How good is the 2500k compare to like i7 920? It seems way cheaper.
a little gaming....like maybe WoW or DC Online...
i am planning on getting either the 27" or 30" Dell monitor.....i usually run dual monitors too.
thx!
