Good deal, I tried to get my mom to buy this back with it was $650, but she ended up getting the Sony 32" 4:3 CRT HDTV for about $850. She didn't seem to trust Sanyo and she said the TV was "ugly."

Anyways, I hate the Lafayette store, some dude almost ran me over with the car in the parking lot and the store always seems to be too crowded. Now that the WL store has expanded, that's the only one I shop

The Lafayette store gets scary in the middle of the night. Your avatar would be an average customer around 3 AM. I haven't been in the WL store late. I would expect half-dressed coeds from Purdue.

Just a heads up as well. Value City here had the same tv (it was a refurb, but looked brand new) for $329.99 as of yesterday. This is probably YMMV. I bought a HT30744 30" widescreen there several months back, and it works and looks great.

If worried about the set's quality, you can get a 2 or 3 year extended warranty very inexpensively. I got a plama set for just under a thousand and the 3 tear warranty (making it 4 total) is only $89 and covers even normal wear and tear.

That's how much it's been for well over a year now. I'd never purchase a 4:3 set for HD anymore. You can get the 30" widescreen version for the same price.

I'm gonna add that 30" 16:9 is equivalent to 24" 4:3 according to this.

I've actually measured in the store, so the dimensions the site gives are pretty accurate.

I watch about 25% HD shows adn 75% SD shows. That's why I got the 32" 4:3 as opposed to the 30" 16:9. Unless you watch 90% HD material, its probably a much better idea go for the 32" 4:3.

Yeah, it seems like you lose a lot less wathcing 16:9 content on a 4:3 screen, tan the other way around. I have a 4:3 projection HDTV, and its still nice for wide format movies. They hardly make 4:3 HDTV's anymore, though.

Check Consumer Reports brand repair history. Sanyo has the lowest number of repairs of ANY brand. That has been consistent for many years. I have three Sanyos.

We bought one just over a year ago. Sometimes the picture gets a green hue that won't go away until we power cycle it. Otherwise the HD picture quality is quite impressive. I wouldn't recommend this TV to anyone, because LCDs are getting cheaper and you will regret this 140 pound clunker in a year when everyone elses TV weights 39 pounds.

How often are you moving your TV around?

Is there a manual degauss (sp?) option?
