The mod works, however, your mileage may vary - my 9500 non Pro ran just as fast in 3DMark2001 as a friend's 9500 Pro - he's got an Athlon XP 1800+, I have an Athlon 1600+

The fill rates for single and multi-texturing doubled, which shows it unlocked the remaining 4 pixel pipelines on the card. I have the Sapphire Technologies red PCB board with 128MB.

Here's the results, for an Athlon Xp 1600+, 133mhz FSB with 1GB of PC 2700 Samsung memory on 1024x768 with 32bit color:

Car Chase Low Detail - 114.3 fps
Car Chase High Detail - 37.5 fps
Dragothic Low Detail - 175.1 fps

Bought the card through BananaPC.com since newegg didn't have any at the time - cost was $158 including s+h. The mod definitely unlocks the remaining 4 pixel pipelines.... too bad I didn't have a faster CPU, since it scaled well when I bumped up the FSB and was running the CPU at 1800+.... not bad at all....

I thought LONG and hard about this a few days back, I was watching when Newegg first put up the new lot of RED PCB 9500's.

After looking at the benchmarks I concluded that I was better off with a 9500 Pro wich was "quite" a bit better a Non-Pro at stock speeds. The 50/50 chance the 9500np wouldnt be able to do the hack sucessfully was just too much for me. I have some "moral" issues preventing me from sending a card back that performed EXACTLY as advertised because I couldnt "hack" it. So I'd be stuck with a 9500NP that at times didnt appear much better (if at all) then a GF4 TI4200. So I spent the extra $19 and got the 9500PRO. I'm fairly certain there is no way to put it up too 9700 speeds, even with mad OC, but at least I'm garunteed a fairly fast card

got mine today, couldn't get it to run any of the hacks without artifacts... and i can't get it out of 60 hertz when i am at 1152x864... any ideas?

Just recived mine today from Newegg and ran the 3dmark 03 on an old AD11 with 1300 Duron and saw no visble artifacting except on the 2nd cpu test. If the checkerboarding is from a broken pipeline then wouldnt all my test have atifacts. So if this is not a broken pipeline issue maybe its something else. (Overheating , Compatiblity, Code in the drivers to disable hack). Here are my first scores...
Ill also be trying this on a NV7-133R w 1800Xp and ill post those results later tonight.

I would'nt feel bad yet, like a said i had only a slight checker board on the 2nd cpu test, ive ran the 3dmark 03 and 02 many times and this is the ONLY problem i saw.

EDIT Come to think of it, can you try it on leaked Doom alpha ?
If it runs it flawlessly then maybe its ok to keep.

What's the best way to see if the hack took? also how do I benchmark before and after? I got my card to today and I am hoping to report results soon. I haven't read the hack links, should I use 3dmark 2001? or 2003?

fillrate score in 02 is commonly used. Read the faq on the links and it will tell you what to look for.
