That's a cool news. I love Sapphire products and having them make motherboards...i'd like to see that and would probably be a buyer if they're good at it!

Thanks for posting this Dark4ng3l!

"This will most likely see Sapphire terminating its current partnerships with various motherboard manufacturers that the company has been working with to create its current range of motherboards."

Since when does Sapphire have a current range of motherboards? Never seen a Sapphire mobo.

They're on Sapphire's web site and likely available in Europe and Asia but not in the USA. A few years ago they were available here at places like Newegg. They were uniquely... white in color, IIRC.

Yes ZAP! That is right. I know TigerDirect carried them. IIRC though they did NOT perform very well under any OC.

Sapphire Tech = part of the PC Partner group, originated from V-TECH electronics.

I actually had my eye on that board for a bit in planning an all white build. Ever try and find a white video card ??

And the board itself was accented with red, so it wouldn't be terribly hard to match up, but the price ... oy vey.

lol nVidia is just getting bitch slapped all around. It's for the better, I guess. They weren't going to do anything useful without a i7/i5/i3 license anyways.

Saphire make some very cheap and nasty looking MBs, that i've seen listed on various UK web based distributors - never purchased though

"less craptastic chipset" = more better/contemporary chipset

Pretty much. I had high hopes for that board back when it was supposed to debut. I remember reading tons of horror stories on that chipset. It would be pretty cool to see something like that come out in a modern, enthusiast flavor.

Like I said, I have an addiction for hardware with "flair". It's also great to see enthusiast level hardware that looks enthusiast along with having that grade of performance. A lot of us don't have the tools/time/cash to completely customize a whole setup. A board with custom blocks and some theme oriented color goes a long way for me as long as its reliable and performs decent. While I'd love to be able to make my own acrylic tops for blocks and stuff like that, it's just not feasible for me.

I'm sure a lot of people would argue that point, but personally I'd love stuff like that. I like building new rigs that look awesome as well as perform awesome. Some of us are just visual types of people and it carries over into our hardware

http://www.semiaccurate.com/2010/06/03/sapphire-scores-new-motherboard-team/

I don't know if that means we are going to be seeing Sapphire motherboard around. Apparently they already have had some products in the past even though I can't remember seeing one. The EVGA team definitely has more experience making high end motherboards so we might see a flurry of AMD base enthusiast motherboards come from this.

so they will be labeled Saphire... instead of eVGA.

IF you boil down to it, its all the same crap..

MADE BY FOXCONN.

You'd be suprised how many true motherboard vendors there are, and how many of the other guys sub contract though them on there own label.

I would argue that most of the value in a motherboard comes from the design of the board itself. Manufacturers are going to make them to spec(ie they are going to use the right caps, etc.) and really I doubt that build quality accounts for much of the difference between brands.

The thing here is that EVGA makes some pretty good motherboards. Now all things being equal Sapphire can make some pretty good motherboard while EVGA can't unless they get a decent design team.
