Good review.

It didn't mention any side-by-side comparisons to other video cards, aka what card from nVidia's lineup would this card be roughly equal to in terms of performance. Does anybody here have a guess?

i dont have to guess i will tell you. have you ever seen toms hardware vga charts? its at top of that list as of December 2006! geforce8 and 1950xtx aside. it just not updated properly. another common screwup all over the web is reviewers say its got ddr4 memory when it hasn't only the xtx has. toms hardware are a set of donkeys. they review best vga cards for december then dont even update there vga charts.

its above a x1900xtx 512mb

it beats a 7900gt...it beats a 7950gt 512mb by 15 to 20 frames on high settings in games like fear etc and they look better too.

so to sum up THIS is amazing performance for the price!!!!

the reviewer didnt even push the card on highest settings or res andunderated that card so much!

It is not above a 512MB 1900xtx. Overall the 1900xtx is a much better performer keeping in mind future proofing.

1950xt gets 48FPS in BF2142 compared to 60+ of 1900xtx. 1950xt and 1900xtx should perform close to each other in gmaes needing 256MB VRAM, but if you plan to play games which need more VRAM or want to enable tripple buffering, a 1900xtx will easily go past the 1950xt, eg: games like SS2, maybe even GRAW and Oblivion.

i meant to say its comparable with a 1900xtx 512mb. i understood it theres little between them but if you got facts and figures i stand corrected. its an overclocked 1900xt i talking about games of 1600 and under. having 512mb really benefits you over 1600 resolution or sli. lets not argue over a few frames at hi-res. the card rocks for the money!

i think i got a little bit giddy praising it.

if you can hold off buying a graphics card till mid january i applaud you. thats the sane thing to do.

but then again i just heard about your Extremely crap FPS on 1900xtx in Rainbow Six Vegas lol alot people question your judgement so i take your results with a pinch of salt.

Yeah, is faster, but not much better or much faster. The only reasonably advantage over is the amount of VRAM, while the 256MB of the X1950 may hold back the card in super duper high resolutions and lots of anti aliasing, that would not happen on the X1900XTX with's its 512MB VRAM. So the performance difference doesn't worth the premium price difference. Simply the X1950XT 256MB offers the best performance for the price ratio.

yes i believe so. theres still so few reviews around at moment.

you dont need 512mb to play at that res on 1600 and under on full it holds its own and has good fps so what else do you need till directx10 arrives?

512mb is overrated. the 48 pixel shader procs of the x1950xt is better than any extra memory the 7900 series has, thus the x1950xt will be faster in any game that is shader intensive, and they are only getting more and more complex. The only game that gives me FPS trouble is WoW, it runs better on Nvidia hardware.
