Sapphire X1950XT Temperatures?

According to ATITool:

Idle: 55-58
While 3D View in ATITool is open: ~70
3dmark06 test (1680x1050, 4AA, 16x Anti): ~88

Is this just a hot card, or should I remove the side to my case and cool it from the outside as well? I just find this really hot...

Yup, sounds about right with the stock cooler. I had an X1900GT not too long ago, and it would idle at about sixty and get up to the mid-80's in games.

There is nothing to worry about as far as your graphics card is concerned; it can handle temps like that just fine. Make sure that your case has enough air flow though, so it does not make other things to hot.

If those temps still worry you however, you could always slap a Zalman anything on there and they would drop considerably.

Hmm, yeah the temps do worry me. I shut down my PC, took off the side panel to my case, put all the case fans up to High (from Medium), and it's now idling at 61-63 heh. =( I opened 3D View in ATITools and it went up to 90, so I'm not sure exactly why it's getting so hot. No OC, no tweaks or anything, so I'm pretty stumped.

I'm going to get a little 10" household fan and blow it into my case, and if that doesn't do much, I'll get a Zalman like you suggested.

I actually dont seem to have the temp issues others have with that card. I idle at 46 and it usually dosnt go above 60 in games. I have stock cooling on the card. Although my case dose have a massive ventilation system. My card isnt loud at all either. Go figure.

normal temps, x19xx series is made to run up to 100c... its normal
however with the zalman vf900 i idle at 40 and load after 2 hours of gaming cs:s at 60C

Wow, that's hot. It's just that 3D View in ATITools alone brings it up to ~90C, but FFXI goes to 71 highest.

Those Zalmans are sounding nice, but I'll try the housefan method first.

haha i'd rather not use any external fans on my pc.. its not necessary.. just spend the $30 and be very happy. yea 100C sounds hot but the x19xx gpu's are made to handle it, i dont think 60C load is very hot...

My x1900xtx has gone as high as 97 C when gaming. I switched to a vf900 a few months back, and I have an intake fan facing the card, now i idle at 35~40, max out at about 75 C. I know the x1950's have a better fan, on the x1900's the stock cooler was way too loud.
