as for this thread, the more i search the net, the more this looks like a great deal. i'm still on step 3 at newegg and really hoping that this wasn't an "oops" and the orders would be cancelled. as soon as it goes past 3 i'll post. good luck to everyone that got in.

These "in stock", "out of stock", "back in stock" things are constant on this forum. People are too quick to assume either. I've passed up good deals that the OP jumped to post OOS in the title only to find the deal back again and in stock on the front page of the site.

nice of you to be concerned about your fellow ATer. fyi, i spoke with a manager -- insisted that "i" should get an order because "i" was on the wait-list. he said "i promise you, we have NOT fulfilled orders after we first ran out... whoever said they got it, i assure you sir, is lying." they are nice aren't they?

i don't need the card. just went through a little trouble because TrojanAaran and i have a bit of history. you'll notice i extend him a rather different and special kind of courtesy than you, lalakai, or any other -- no cause for concern.

he once accused me of "thrashing" ... but to this day is unable to say why. he can't because i wasn't. see the post.

okay, my order has been shipped from newegg, or at least i'm at step 5.

as for this thread, it started out being very useful and helpful, but has deteriorated. Nope i don't post alot, but i have been here a long time and watch the boards alot. Forum members need to keep their gripes private as it only lowers the quality of the threads for everyone.

thanks again to LW07 on a great find. Everyplace else i've seen for this card is significantly higher and i'm happy to have gotten in early enough.

no need to get side-tracked and get down on it. the thread is the same. it's still a good deal, it's still out of stock, you're still hoping to get lucky and waiting to receive it. the information and status hasn't changed so it's neither more nor less useful than before. most importantly people are still very much willing to help.

Big upgrade...I went froma 9700pro (just a small step back from your card) and saw a huge improvement in all games. BF2 was night and day. it's not the fastest obviously, but it was a previous generations best so it has all the bells and whistles.

It's very close to the best for AGP cards. It beats out the 6800 Ultra, and in some games (CS:Source) it will match or even surpass the 7800gs.

i got one last January for $200 from a MicroCenter Hot Deal . . . it is an excellent card for AGP and more than twice as fast as my 9800xt ... decent for Oblivion at 11x8 {everything hi except Soft shadows and Grass}

that said ...

you DO know AGP x1950pro is due out the end of this month with identical performance to the PCIe version!

it's MSRP is $249 and it should be the very fastest AGP card --period
[plus it supports SM 3.0 and features the x800 series do not including HDR+AA for Oblivion]


worth knowing ... even though it is $100 more expensive

EDIT: i am not knocking this deal ... it is very very good - especially if you need it now.
the x1950p is simply a PSA for those of us looking for the 'fastest' in AGP. ... the two card "deals" are simply not comparable.

and i seriously doubt it will be over MSRP since at least two different companies are releasing them simultaneously and it is on ATi's "cheap" process so it should be pleantiful and cheap as ATi tries to make up for nvidia's G80 with a likely 'firesale'

yep got my shipping confirmation and tracking number; it's left the warehouse.

as for the 1950pro, i know the projected launce date and suggested price, but i'm thinking that it'll be late and significantly higher then msr.

at the same time did some checking on my current agp mb and cpu; it's pretty much maxed out so the 850 will be icing on the cake while i build new system. Lol my son is already considering where he'll put the new rig once i've finished it. Poor boy, should i pop his bubble now or later?

still have trouble with newegg and that price; really out of line with everything else that i've seen on the net. newegg usually don't make mistakes like that, so maybe they got a good deal on some discontinued cards. Meh, xmas early. lol
