I know there are too many Sarah Palin threads already, but I couldn't resist this one. Apparently our favorite Half-Governor has decided to one-up Michelle Bachmann on American History. On her "One Nation" tour in Boston, she was asked about Paul Revere and drew upon her vast knowledge of Americana as she answered:

"He who warned, uh, the British that they weren't going to be taking away our arms uh by ringing those bells and making sure as he's riding his horse through town to send those warning shots and bells that we were going to be secure and we were going to be free and we were going to be armed."

As I have posted before, those who do not learn from history are destined to lead the Tea Party. Good luck to the Republicans if she somehow nabs their presidential nomination, and my condolences to her constituents if she ever again holds elective office.

Any Palin thread just helps her in her mission to sell books.
That is all she wants. Sell, sell, sell those current and future books.
Think of her current bus trip as the giant "sell my books" tour.
We see through you... Sarah. Ka-Ching!

She is somewhat correct.

Then again, Obama thinks there are 57 states. Put his ass up on American history without a teleprompter and see how he does.

Get real. She's correct in the sense that saying a car runs SO WE'RE FREE because of gas and stuff going in the engine and stuff so that it moves AND WE HAVE FREEDOM is correct. And all that freedom and arms shit is just pandering to an utterly retarded group of voters. By any reasonable standard, that's a worthless answer. If Obama said anything like that, you'd be in here screaming in record time about how he doesn't know American history, yada yada yada.

And speaking of the 57 states, are we to hang all politicians every time they mix up a number, or switch a couple words? There are much better things to attack a politician for than their verbal equivalent of typos. Like what their actual policy beliefs are.

The Tea Party was hijacked by neoconservatives and blowhards on the right that saw their influence slipping and if you don't know that the you don't know history either. Sarah Palin, Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh and the like are nothing but cowards who would sell their souls to maintain the public spotlight.

Yes, he rode a horse. She is also 'somewhat incorrect', a fact you can't admit.

Then again, Obama thinks there are 57 states. Put his ass up on American history without a teleprompter and see how he does.

Except two things you abhor - facts and common sense - say otherwise. The fact he said it right hundreds of other times, until one time, when he mixed up the phrase 'fifty states' and saying 'forty-seven states', starting to say one and then switching to the others, as Snopes explains:

The actual intent behind Senator Obama's misstatement is easy to discern without the need to invoke an obscure international organization. He was trying to express the thought that in all the time he had spent on the campaign trail so far in 2007-08, he had visited all (48) of the states in the continental U.S. save for one (i.e., "one left to go," excluding Alaska and Hawaii), but in his weariness he slipped up and started off with "fifty" instead of "forty." (Note the long pause in the video clip between the words "fifty" and "seven.")

Common sense would also tell you that Obama knows we have 50 states - if you had any.

So what we have from you - a dodge of a fact, and a false statement.

As for Palin, she is an immoral con artist IMO.

..except for the bells and the warning shots and the warning the British part and everything else she said except "riding his horse:...

Man as much as I hate to appear to defend Palin there's more truth to her statement than most realize of their understanding of Paul Revere.

The atmosphere was tense, word of General Gage's intentions spread through Boston prompting the patriots to set up a messaging system to alert the countryside of any advance of British troops. Paul Revere arranged for a signal to be sent by lantern from the steeple of North Church - one if by land, two if by sea. On the night of April 18, 1775 the lantern's alarm sent Revere, William Dawes and other riders on the road to spread the news. The messengers cried out the alarm, awakening every house, warning of the British column making its way towards Lexington. In the rider's wake there erupted the peeling of church bells, the beating of drums and the roar of gun shots - all announcing the danger and calling the local militias to action.

To attribute it solely to Revere is false but the general premise was correct in most regards.

Edit: Palin's still a moron.

The thing that bothers me about this is that she could have (although surprisingly) have said she just didn't know. But it seems like they feel they must give an answer no matter what. It would have been so much better for her if she had taken this advice to heart. She is a disgrace to the Tea Party IMO. The whole movement is shattered because of dimwitted shits like this.

FWIW, the only reason Paul Revere is so well remembered is that Henry Longfellow couldn't find a good rhyme for Israel Bissell.

Palin is an idiot, but you are correct. She could have worded that a little better.

I like how they added "and we were going to be armed." at the end behind free, I am guessing to add a little gun nuttery to Palin, even though in the video she doesn't say "and we were going to be armed.", of course you can ALWAYS count on that piece of shit site "Thinkprogressive" to lie and distort anything.

She does say that in the more complete video here.

Maybe we miss the point, in 1776 American Patriots maybe thought with one voice, but even today, that is somewhat dubious.

But for Sarah Palin to speak from her hip about the past thinking of true American is not only an insult but it borders on stupidity.

At the time Paul Revere rode, even ole Paul knew the odds were long and almost hopeless. But still we Americans won, with persistence and a genius for Compromise.

A fact that Sarah Palin will never understand.

This is freakin' hilarious, although not worth its own thread. Seems that the reporters tailing Palin are complaining that her caravan doesn't obey traffic laws, drives dangerously, and worst of all, she won't tell them where she's going next! Oddly enough, it seems to be the reporters who are getting pulled over.

SEABROOK, N.H. — Sarah Palin’s bus is plastered with a mock-up of the U.S. Constitution. But her entourage — both the three-vehicle motorcade that includes the bus and the smaller, two-SUV version she uses for smaller events — hasn’t been very respectful of traffic laws.

They speed. They run red lights and stop signs. They make last-second lane changes to get off the highway, sometimes without signaling. So do the reporters following them.

Journalists in the caravan trailing her “One Nation” tour bus describe the experience as harrowing, a rolling menace careening up the East Coast in hot pursuit of the former Alaska governor who declined to provide any advance itinerary of her tour over six days on the road.

As they left the clambake she attended Thursday in New Hampshire, Palin’s two-SUV caravan traveled at 52 miles per hour in a 35 mph zone as it peeled away from the hosts’ neighborhood. Both cars blew through a stop sign about a mile later. They did 70 mph in a 55 mph zone on I-95 — and then, after they got off, without signaling, flew right past a flashing sign informing them they were going 45 mph in a 35 mph zone.

And that was after they had already stormed the major cities — and just missed driving through a tornado on the road into Boston.

On Tuesday, the bus nearly hit a biker turning off of Pine Street in Philadelphia.

On Wednesday, after a police escort led the bus through a closed section of the Lincoln Tunnel, the bus ran at least two red lights racing up Sixth Avenue and through Columbus Circle in Midtown Manhattan. Before long, a cop pulled up, pointing out to the first reporter trailing the bus how many lights they were running. The reporter apologized — but begged to stick with the bus. The perplexed cop let him go.

On Thursday, the story was much the same. Palin’s two SUVs — used for minor events and tight spaces — braved the tiny, winding streets of Boston’s North End. And when the bus joined them, the trailing car in the entourage ran two red lights after the bus barely made it through the yellow, as did the media caravan, leaving behind a traffic jam for the locals.

The reporters who are speeding, tailgating, cutting off other cars, blasting through roundabouts and passing on the right in an effort to keep up, say they have no other choice since they never know what Palin’s up to or where she’s headed — and aides typically won’t tell them anything. Once they’re on the road, they’re filing urgent updates by phone and figuring out unorthodox bathroom breaks, like the reporter who pulled over to relieve himself on the side of the highway going from Gettysburg, Pa., to Philadelphia — drawing notice from both Palin aides and the rest of the trailing press.

“It’s like paparazzi,” said one reporter who followed Palin to the Thursday evening clambake. “It’s like following Princess Diana.”
There is ALWAYS a choice on whether or not to follow Palin's caravan, especially unsafely. The woman is on a publicity tour, either to prepare for a Presidential run or to increase her star power within the Republican electorate. She knows reporters hate her; all the left does. And she's dicking with them big time. But at the end of the day, they have what she wants: publicity.

If they want to know her schedule, they should stop following her like crazed lemmings on speed.

So not a single criticism of her or her staff for their actions? It's all te medias fault? As a private citizen she has no special rights or privileges. But as usual, she's just the victim of the evil media right?

When did this place turn into the DailyKos?

How would you know if it did, given the likelihood of you having ever read Kos is nearly zero?

http://dailykos.com/

Be careful- it might burn your eyes out, or even worse, pollute your precious bodily fluids...

Best save them up & keep them pure for the inevitable dream encounter with the Sarah!...

Only in your dreams, of course... and only in the dreams of America's goofiest Righties does she have any business commenting on anything more meaningful than how to microwave a hot pocket...
