My guess is some kind of meek compromise like approve 3 billion for wall and we’ll talk about DACA when Government opens
Then followed by a campaign rally off the TelePrompTer talk about how Democrats hate the military and don’t want them to be paid, Democrats want open borders and a bunch of other MAGA shit.
Just read that the Dems added another billion for border spending so I predict you're right.

Trump pushing religious bigotry "prayer rugs found at border". Interesting lie because Muslims don't leave prayer rugs behind yet his rubes will believe anything he says.
https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/fact...ut-prayer-rugs-found-at-the-border/ar-BBSreTK

His supporters believed that Obama hung 'Muslim prayer curtains' in the White House (even though there's no such thing and Trump had those same gold curtains installed in Oval Office), so of course they're going to believe this BS.

Trump is going to start RIF process for the 800k furloughed workers since tomorrow is day 30. Ain’t a damn thing the Aden’s can do to stop it since legal authority already exists. The shitshow is going to get amped up significantly.
Just a FYI, the Dems do have the votes in the House to impeach Trump, and a long list of high crimes to impeach him with. Of course the Senate won't convict, but it should be fun watching the GOP nominate an impeached President for re-election in '20.

Impeachment only requires majority vote so “have the votes” is a given. I don’t support Trump and advocated against him here pre-election so if you want to impeach have at it. As you said Senate won’t convict and I’d prefer not to have the “fun” of him being nominated in 2020 whether impeached or not.

The wall thing is pointless anyway since if you’re not going to fix the root cause: too few legal immigration slots and effectively zero punishment of employers of illegals. If “supply” of legal immigration slots matched demand the wall is beside the point.

Sounds like we're in agreement on every point here.

Trump's wall is an entirely manufactured crisis. His solution to a problem created by government is even more government. All so he can claim to be the hero.

I think walls do have some deterrent value. It’s just how you wouldn’t not have a lock on your front door, it deters casual crooks. But only up to a point, investing more and more money on increasingly sophisticated locks Becomes pointless when people can just break a window and get into your house that way.

Our current immigration system is like the door lock and window problem. Made worse by the fact there seems to be no appetite to arrest people who break into houses (or employ those who do).

Maybe not the best analogy because I don’t see there being a public good served by allowing people to break into houses like there is a good served by legal immigration, but it gets across the basic idea. Either way the basic idea is we want people to be invited into the house and come in through the front door and not sneak into our house without permission.

After reading this thread I’m feeling a bit nervous. Please God, let be a nothingburger.

Word salad about national emergency cuz obstructionist Democrats wanted to shut down the golubbermint, wrap it up with fake news witch Hunt no collusion.

Base placated, targets assaulted, good Saturday, maybe another round of golf, gotta stay a not so obese 239 lbs, and it's one less round of golf than Obama played...so no worries.

I heard a news story this morning that the dems offered $1B for the wall, no response from Trump yet other than he was thinking about it. Perhaps he will declare victory and end his lockout of federal employees.

Doing a photo op at Dover for the 4 men killed in Syria now. So transparent. I guess he's creating a whirlwind media blitz build up for his bigly speech.

You're missing the point entirely. If immigrants were Norwegians, the base wouldn't care nearly so much. The other side of it is that the lootocracy running Central America is deeply connected to American banks & business. They are, in many ways, what our own GOP aspires to be.

I agree with impeachment in itself being useless at this time. Once Mueller delivers then that may change. I say do the Constitutionally allowed thing and criminally indict Trump and make Barr responsible if he resists.

Oh, forgot. The circus starts at 4pm est, and the word is Trump will offer some DACA protection for 5.7 billion.

Non starter IMO.

Dems should lead with right hook "Blackmail using innocent lives" and hammer on that.

It's a poor analogy IMO because the US isn't a private residence so much as it is a place of business. But it seems we both agree that the solution to people sneaking in without permission is to invite more people in. That way, by balancing the supply with the demand, we get more control of the situation, and can get more of the people we want and less of those we don't.
