palo alto is almost OOS on the i5 cpus just FYIFry's has an Intel i5 chip and Gigabyte mb with sata3 and usb3 on sale in their Friday ad--god 'til next Thursday.
I don't care about SATA 3.0 (6Gbps)...

It doesnt have to keep up, it just doesnt use the bandwith. You could use a SATA port multiplier and hook up several drives on one SATA channel to saturate the bandwith. But the only benefit would be to load your machine up with a silly number of drives while effectively using the bandwith at your hands.
Other than that, SATA 6Gb/s is just marketing yip-yap for now and quite some time to come.
Oh did not know you could do this, so it's kinda like IDE where you can put 2 drives on one cable?
