~370mb sustained read speed using AS SSD
I recently picked up a crucial m4 128 drive (my first SSD). I updated the firmware to 0009 before putting a cloned copy of win7 on it. The drive is about half full. I am wondering if the marvell 9128 controller is holding the speed back.
Turbo mode for sata3 is ON in the bios. The drive is aligned properly. I've used the SSD Tweaker program. TRIM appears to be active. ACHI is on. I upgraded the firmware of the marvell 9128 sata3 controller and I am using a sata 3 cable. I am using the MS ACHI driver for the marvell controller, I tried the latest driver but it was a lot slower. The sustained read was about 380 before the firmware update adding to my suspicion that the controller is the bottleneck.
I am considering trying a fresh install of windows, but I'm not sure if that'll fix it.
If a fresh install doesn't work is there a sata 3 controller that is worth buying? I haven't been able to find much for reviews/benchs on add on cards for sata 3.
