sata and winXp

I have a ABIT "NF7-S" Model# NF7-S V2 motherboard and a Maxtor 80GB 7200RPM SATA Hard Drive, MODEL 6Y080M0 hard drive and can not install winXP. When I try to install winXp I hit f6 and load the silicon 3112 drivers for the sata and when thin sees the hard drive and start installing and formats the hard drive and thin starts installing winXp but when it restarts to continue install winXp it does not see the sata hard drive and does not continue the install. I have tried the silicon 3114 and via and intel drives that came with the sata drive disk but the hard drive is never seen with these drive only the silicon 3112 dive lets me continue on with install and the formatting of the hard drive. I have updated the nf7-s v2 to the lates bios 24
but it still does not sees the sata hard drive after it restarts after formatting and starting the winXp install. This is a new install and I have the cd on the primary ide . I have the bios set so sata is first boot and I have the sata enabled. Please can anyone help me? Do I need to set something different in the bios or what to get winXp installed?

Hi Kevin; I'm not familiar with ABIT mb's; but maybe I can help. Check in your BIOS setup for SCSI in the boot order. After the Sil3112a drivers are in it may be looking for a SCSI ; rather than HDD0. That is if you are using the SATA connection to the drive; and not the IDE connection. I use ASUS boards and the BIOS has a SCSI boot option which is what I needed to get connected to the drives in SATA RAID1. Hope this helps.

Under the Advanced PCI option, I believe under a sub option you need to make sure that the SATA Controller and SATA RAID options are enabled. Just enabling SATA Controller will not help you. Both need to be turned on, even if you are not actually using RAID. This was what fixed my problem with this same board.
