SATA drives and overclocking!

Hey quick question, i remember hearing something about SATA drives wont work if overclocking or something like that... any comments? i am thinking of getting a 250 gb WD sata drive. thanks

I was under the impression that some boards with 4 SATA ports required you to use the 3 and 4th ports if you were overclocking. Not sure though, just remember reading it somewhere.

it will be a fast issue if you dont have a working PCI Lock....so OCing does have somthing to do with Harddrives...The pci divider is figured off of the HTT or FSB (depending on your cpu choice) and if the lock doesn't hold it at 33mhz you can quickly take it out of spec and some harddrives start experiencing corruption in the 36-37mhz range...

The Neo2 is one of those boards..ports 1&2 do not have a working pci lock so get to about 220HTT and that is about as far as yo can go without corruption...

Good to know. I'm thinking about picking up a Neo2 in the near future, i'll have to remember that, thanks.

Not 100% true. That would be true if your sata drive went over the pci bus but most newer chipsets dont' do this...they connect the sata directly to the southbridge.
