Actually, not a bad idea. It can work, if 1. your SATA controller supports atapi devices and 2. your PATA->SATA converter also supports atapi devices. Right now, as far as I know, only the integrated Silicon Image sata controller (found on Abit boards, and others?) and the Abit Serillel 2 converter support atapi devices.Originally posted by: Davegod

I would love to have SATA optical drives. Not for the speed "increase" but the thin cable. I just want to do away with ribbons altogether. I want thin floppy drives too, but I don't forsee that happening.
