SATA HD boot problem

I bought a SATA WD Raptor to add to my current system that was booting from a Maxtor SATA. I tried to image my system to it and it did not work. I then tried to do a fresh install to it (with just it hooked up) and the Bios recognized it and wrote to it, but on reboot i get a "OS failed to load error"

I can NOT fix this after hours of trying. If i just add the drive it is seen by the OS and can be read/written to as E:

Any ideas how to get the OS loaded?

Do you have two PATA drives? It seems as through it's seeing the two PATA IDE devices first, causing your SATA HD to get an E: drive letter.

If you're installing Win95, 98, or ME, the boot device has to have a C: drive letter or it won't boot. If it's Win2000 or XP, it shouldn't have a problem with that (might check the boot.ini in the root directory).

Also, make sure you're hitting F6 at the apporiate time in the install (early on in the install process) to install the drivers for your specific SATA device. Usually you'd get a different error message than the one you're describing if that was the case.
